As expected A&E has cancelled The Glades after four seasons on the air. There won’t be a fifth season or wedding for Jim (Matt Passmore) and Callie (Kiele Sanchez).
The dramedy began in July 2010 and it became their first scripted series to last more than a season. The cancellation comes days after The Glades’ fourth season finale attracted 3.41 million viewers. This was the show’s most-watched episode since the series premiere which drew 3.55 million.
Unfortunately, the fourth season as a whole was down by 14% year-to-year and The Glades was the cable channel’s lowest-rated scripted series. It didn’t help that the show was also produced by Fox, an outside studio, so A&E didn’t have a financial stake in the show’s future.
Of course, the real losers are the fans. The fourth season ended on a cliffhanger with Jim being shot in the chest by an unknown assailant. Hopefully the producers will find a way to give faithful viewers an idea of what might have happened in season five.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that The Glades has been cancelled? How would you have resolved the cliffhanger? Should Jim and Callie be together?
This was one of the best shows on TV! I refuse to watch all those stupid reality shows, cooking shows, and generally TV shows that cost almost nothing to produce and are nothing but mindless drivel. You could have had the decency to provide a closure for the show and its many fans! Instead, just like the Sopranos, it just dropped off the radar with no resolution. I am getting sick and tired of really getting “into” a series and then it’s either canceled or they kill off the main character (like Heartland). I’m just going to read more and… Read more »
this is a bunch of crap what the hell
A&E stinks they lost me for a viewer!!!!!
I can’t believe you did that!!! With all the CRAP on tv… you cancel one of the best shows and end with a cliffhanger like that. So much for my loyalty to A&E tv… Goodbye A&E!!!!
I’m just reading this today after seeing a commercial with Matt Passmore in a new show. I’ve been waiting all these months for nothing. Am I so assume that Jim dies and that’s that? He deserves more even if it’s only a few episodes to bring everything to a good conclusion. Well, dang, only the good die young. Both Jim and the show.
Loved the show we saw iton the roku and it was was in amazon we would love it to come background
The ending sucked I mean come on we all wanna know what happens to Jim. We want a better ending to the glades tv series
Loved this show and was looking forward to seeing what happened to Jim and kali –
We were extremely disappointed with the ending of “The Glades”. I wonder if it would be possible for the Director to crowd fund additional seasons via Kickstarter? I know I would donate even if it were only for a single season just to provide a decent ending to the series.
We are deeply disappointed the series was canceled. At last you could do final 5 or 6 episodes to wrap up the series to eliminate the unknown answers with the cast. We would like to see if Jim recovers and he and Calle get married. We thought the cast worked very well with each other and put on a great showing. The least you could do is wrap up the series – no cliff hangers!
Just finished watching all four seasons on Netflix…loved it! Just found out show is canceled. Really?? At least give us some closure and tell us how it all plays out. It’s just wrong to end it this way!
I going band a&e …I’m tired of all good show getting cancelled. We deserve a ending at least I would watch this show as much as criminal minds law and order CSI I been loyal to them from the being i loved what I saw on nexflix and I want more my whole family want to see it we would watch on TV if we knew about … now we are fans that so disappointed…. we see crimes shows all time it was the love they had for each other that what got me and his way he was ….I… Read more »
Bring it back we want to see it not all these stupit really shows my whole family love it …come on really
The Glades was a really fun show to watch, especially after working 12 hours a day and I’m so sorry it was cancelled. The very least should have been a few episodes to decide Jim’s fate. He was an entertaining character and didn’t deserve the way it ended. If the marriage didn’t work out, there could have been a spinoff with Callie in a new doctor show. With her history, she could have played a doctor torn between skirting the edge of good and bad and walking a tight line on ethics, but ultimately having the good side of her… Read more »
the glades was cancelled but the main actor is in another series called satisfaction it sounds like a loser to me but then what do i know, i know only the acting and the script if the acting is good and the script is decent i would prefer great, then it might have a chance to succeed.
