Bad news for The Good Cop. Deadline reports Netflix has cancelled the TV show after only one season.
The comedy centers on former NYPD officer Tony Caruso Sr (Tony Danza) aka “Big Tony,” and his son, Tony Jr (Josh Groban), who goes by TJ. The cast also includes Monica Barbaro, Isiah Whitlock Jr, Bill Kottkamp, Brooke Carrell, Muhammad Abuhaikal, Matthew Saldivar, and John Scurti.
Read Netflix‘s announcement below:
The Good Cop will not return for a second season. We’re grateful to creator Andy Breckman and his fellow producers, writers, the incredible crew and especially stars Tony Danza and Josh Groban for bringing this classic odd couple father-son story to Netflix.”
What do you think? Have you seen The Good Cop? Would you have watched a second season?
Sorry to see The Good Cop go. It was
a good show. Any chance of bringing
it back.
Very disappointed that this was cancelled after one season. Thoroughly enjoyed the first season. Enjoyed all the characters, the humour and the story lines of each episode. Was so looking forward to watching more.
Netflix has a management problem. I’m think Netflix will dead from self inflicted wound of wasting money on project outside entertainment. The Show “The Good Cop” was a good show. Another Netflix show bites the dust!
My husband and I loved “The Good Cop” and would really appreciate a 2nd (or more) season.
I loved that show, just watched all of it yesterday, my favourite was the bowling show, #3, loved seeing Tony Danza back on tv, Josh Groban, he did a great job, love the I.T. guy, hillairous, I wish they’d bring another season at least. lol.
I really have enjoyed this Series! Good humor, morals & the right amount of action.
So sorry it isn’t coming back for another season.
We are very disappointed that Netflix runs far too many inappropriate shows (too much violence, gutter language and other non-family appropriate content!!) and then cancels a decent show we were not ashamed to watch with children and grandchildren : The Good Cop!
We find cleaner, enjoyable shows on Acorn!
Cow-towing to immoral, decadent story lines is shameful. It would be refreshing to have a major market player stand up and produce shows that build strong moral character, exemplify good respectable behavior and exhibit the decency that has been the backbone of what has been a strong society.
We just finished Season 1 of The Good Cop. My husband and I don’t usually agree on shows, but this one was perfect for both of us. I am so disappointed that it is cancelled. I was so looking forward to seeing what came next. Maybe they will rethink this bad decision.
I just finished watching Season 1 of The Good Cop. I loved the show. Great chemistry between characters, grew up with Tony Danza and love Josh Groban. I remember seeing him on Ally McBeal and knew he would be a star. I just don’t understand how you didn’t give it a chance for a second season. I’m sure I’m not alone feeling like how was his wife involved with her demise. Ugh really wish you would have let it play out.
Very disappointed!!!
Diane
I can’t tell you how disappointed I am about the cancellation. Finally- great writing, a nice chemistry between the main characters- and good clean entertainment. Please bring it back!!! Finally a show I loved!
Grew up on Tony Danza’s smile. Great seeing it again in such a smart comedy. Love Andy Breckmam’s style. Please bring back.
Thoroughly enjoyed. Why are good programs cancelled while trashy obscene programs continued. Please bring it back. Thanks Robert
I was waiting expectantly for the next season, as the first was so good. Love Josh Groban in this, the premise, the style, even the graphics (newspaper headline titles).
I would like to see a 2nd season. They ended the 1st season with a cliffhanger. BIG mistake Netflix. I highly advise against the cancellation.
Netflix is making a mistake canceling it. Would have loved to seen a second season!!!
I hope Netflix will reconsider and do a second series. The
First was really great and the stars were brilliant. The
Chemistry between Tony Danza and Josh Groban was
Fantastic. Please, please do a second series
