Though it’s never been hit in the ratings, CBS has been renewing The Good Wife year after year. Will this be the season when the show’s luck runs out or will it be the biggest year yet? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a seventh season? We shall see.
On The Good Wife, attorney and mother Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) continues to face new challenges and opportunities in both her personal and professional lives. The series also stars Christine Baranski, Matt Czuchry, Archie Panjabi, Graham Phillips, Makenzie Vega, Alan Cumming, Zach Grenier, and Matthew Goode.
The higher a show’s ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better its chances for survival. New ratings data will be added as it becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: CBS has renewed The Good Wife for a seventh season.
Final season averages: 1.22 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.72 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a couple weeks later.
Last year comparison: The fifth season of The Good Wife averaged a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.4 million total viewers.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you still like The Good Wife TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a seventh season?
I adore The Good Wife, its weekly “water cooler” talk for me and several friends… We love it….hope it returns for a seventh season
I love this show. Hard to record due to over time on sports shows. CBS needs to find a way to not mess up the Sunday time schedule so shows start on time. This show never gets old. The plots are always great, excellent dialogues, and superb acting. Why stop a great show. There are so many ways the story line can go next season.
I love The good wife and i hope CBS keeps it going for at least one more season. Then the kings at least can make the end as they want to. #thegoodwifeseason7
I stopped WATCHIN The Good Wife last season when josh Charles left the show! After that, it got extremely stupid! I mean honestly, who really cares about her & her daily dramas? When she was w/josh charles, it was at least kind of intresting, now it’s boring! It starts w/Her taking a hard case, she may lose, but in the end she wins! Yaaaawwwnnnn!! Paleeze, isn’t there another show on TV that was called Perry Mason that was xactly like that only BETTER??????
Please, do us a favor & cancel it finally & leave it in rerun history!!
The Good Wife has always been an excellent show. CBS made a terrible decision when they moved it to Sunday Night. This may be a SHOCKER but not everybody likes and watches FOOTBALL, GOLF or any of the other sports programming that precedes the Sunday night line up. Those of us who do not watch sports, set our DVR’s to record the Sunday shows we watch adding an hour or more to make sure we get the whole shows. I wonder if these viewers are counted in the ratings. CBS needs to decide to put in sports filler, interviews or… Read more »
I love the good wife and I was sorry to see Alicia give in to resiation, sorry archie panajabi is leavingse made the show so smart, I hope th give Alicia more family storylines and definitely more courtroom dramas. I hope CBS does not make the mistake to take off the air…what is wrong wth CBS they take out the best storylines tv series, keep the Good Wife going…
I recently quit watching The Good Wife. It’s just not the same as it was. Too political & all the backstabbing, lying & deceit that goes on is sickening. Preferred the courtroom drama. Unless the storyline of this show changes, I’ll never watch it again.
Ditto. I stopped watching couple months ago for the same reason.
What do u define as a hit. Thus show has always been in the top 15 or top 20 the last. Couple seasons. It is a good show but a alot of the trades has had it on there trash talk list…
I love this show. Taking away Alicia from the law firm me has made me lose interest! She’s always made the storylines so real & relaable! The way she pitches so & battles arguing for her clients are exceptional moments! Her relationship with her kids, even with her unfaithful husband are awesome to watch. Cary’s issues dragged too long, altho it’s over now, Cary is not as interesting as Alicia! I hope CBS will give the show a season 7, it’s up to the writers to come up with storylines for Alicia that’s less politics & press! Leave that to… Read more »
The show has lost it’s magic! Something or someone needs to change. First the writers spent too long on the Will’s death, than Cary going to Prison, now Alicia is AD? Why don’t they cancel Bishop and get back to courtroom drama. I realize this is art and the writers are gifted at what they do. I’m sure it’s me and I’ve missed the artistic genius of what they’ve done with the show. My question is if they continue to “turn-off”the viewers and ratings continue to drop aren’t they kinda missing the point? I will keep my fingers crossed for… Read more »
The writers this season have lost touch with the main character. They are going for the sensational rather than the believable. In character development, in order to have your character change drastically, you’ve got to show that character getting from Point A to Point D. The writers this season have taken Alicia from Point A directly to Point D with her choice to run for state’s attorney without showing the progression through Points B and C. Therefore, her choice was out of character. And, aren’t we all sick to death of politicians and politics of the extreme and dirty tricks?… Read more »
I have watched TGW since the beginning and loved it!! However, the new season is not very interesting. I do think it needs some new writers. Alicia is very boring and the stories are weak.
The episode that aired Mar 22, 2015 was disgusting. I left the room when the deer was about to be shot. The writer for that show must belong to the NRA. The point of that scene
is senseless and tasteless. While on the subject of taste adding the meal of venison was also offensive.
You have lost a fan!!

The Good Wife has been an excellent show….Why such an excellent show has been treated so poorly by CBS is beyond my understanding ( same treatment was given the Mentalist). I would hope that CBS moves TGW to a decent evening and time rather at a time when it is routinely pre-empted. The other suggestion is to cut the present story line of her running for State’s Attorney….This is a very boring thread..and rather unrealistic….put Alicia back in to the courtroom. The cast is a strong one….please take care of them.
the network is working hard to kill the good wife….half the time sports pushes the time off then the show isn’t on for weeks ….I have to check every sunday to see if it is there or something I do not care to watch….commit to the show or put it at another time…get some writers to put together a story also writing has really lost touch ….
I did like the GW but it is terrible now. If it gets no better it needs to be cancelled. Chris Noth needs to be in more episodes and Alicia needs to get a grip. She is so wishy washy. The character needs to grow up and face reality. Stop blaming everyone else for her weakness. The show was much more interesting when she was the active wife of the governor. This is what kept the interest in the show.
Certainly agree. Was once one of my favorite shows, but has lost its appeal. The title implies there’s a marriage and the show keeps getting further and further away from that story line. I’m very aware of the times in which we live, however, do we have to turn Alicia into a complete w>>>>??? I mean, it’s as if she looks at every man with sex on her mind. She’s become worse than Peter. All last season, I was disgusted after each episode. Without “Kalinda”, and with the very little bid of Chris Noth, we get, don’t know that Season… Read more »
