TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

Although there were some things I had issues with in the beginning, I felt like those were starting to smooth out as the shows went on. I would very much like to see more in the world of the librarians.
Please keep The Librarians going. An amazing show with an exceptional cast and crew. I am sure that once Australia airs the show John Kim’s fan base will grow exponentially, together with that of Christian Kane. The continued growth in Christian’s Facebook account alone since joining the show is proof of the integrity he brings to his work. He has an exceptional gift in the art of acting and of course singing. Definitely a wise-choice for the role of Jake Stone. RENEW! PLEASE RENEW! NO SHOW MAKES ME MORE EXCITED THAN THIS ONE! I enjoy all of the cast and love the stories, the dialogue, the places visited and the mythology featured! There’s nothing else like it!
This was my first time watching it this season. I have to admit I loved it. This is my favorite show now. Since it is safe to say Leverage will not come back..but please bring The Librarians back.
YES, please keep this going. There are so many shows I can’t watch with family. Or even by my self! Please remember some of us have just found the show. Please give us another season

I love Christian Kane. The librarians is a mix between leverage and warehouse 13. I like the action and it keeps me engaged. Please keep it for another season.

please please keep the Librarians I so enjoy it and I am 71 yrs old I can hardly wait for the next episode and the actors all work so well together so keep keep keep. there is a large group of us that watch each week thank you mary and the crowd
This show is interesting, and unique even though it is based of a current TV movie series. It can be cheesy at times, like the Minotaur which looked like a college basketball mascot. But the characters already have be deeply invested in caring about them. Just like leverage, you care about these characters, where they come from, and where they are going. Also I’d like to see christian kane being a bit more of the bad ass we all know he can be. Thank You
