You know that old line about “Please, don’t shoot the messenger”? Well, The CW has done just that. The network has cancelled The Messengers after one season. Only three episodes have aired thus far.
On The Messengers TV show, a mysterious object plummets to Earth and explodes in a blinding flash. It sends out a shock wave that instantly connects five strangers. They receive extraordinary gifts, from inexplicable strength to the ability to heal others. The cast includes Shantel VanSanten, Jon Fletcher, Sofia Black-D’Elia, J. D. Pardo, Joel Courtney, Anna Diop, and Diogo Morgado.
The move to cancel the series doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The Messengers has performed quite poorly so far, even for a Friday night show. Last week’s installment hit a new low with just 650,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
For now, it looks like the series will stay on the air to finish out its run of 13 total episodes.

My family and I really enjoy this show. We are Christians as well and it is great to have a t.v. show that we can watch as a family that does not have all the sex and language that others shows do.
I think this show was really good. I do not see the reason to cancel it .Also ya should have made a season 2 because some people actually really like the show such as me
They need more shows like this. It’s nice to not have all the sex and drama of the other shows. This one at least has suspense and some biblical backing to it. Really need a second and more episodes to it. It’s a great show. I was flabbergasted to find out they didn’t have more episodes. Please bring it back we all Christians need more shows like this. Netflix as put the messengers on. I started watching and I just finished it in two day. And it blew my mind at the end of the last episode. when we find out who is the Antichrist It must be hard to kill innocent child. I am a Christian and I wanted to see what will happen next. because we are innocent when we are a child. But all things change when we get to an adult. So please continue with the second season. thank and God bless you.
I started watching The messengers last week and I finished watching the last episode. It gets to me in a way that it talks about the bible and they should shoot the second season. I got so clinched into this show. I’m a Christian and I would want to see it on air again. It helps me understand more about the things that are happening now. Please!! Make the second season!
I just started watching the messengers myself two days ago. Me and my whole entire family have finished season one in just three days. We are all wondering how the story line will end. Being that we are Christian’s this show is very intriguing to us. We pray that you will reconsider starting a season two. There are not enough shows out here that related back to God’s word. As a Christian myself my personal opinion is thats part of the reason why they cancelled a really good tv show worth watching is because yes it does relate to the word of God and the Bible which is what this world is in need of but yet falling away from..so i feel like that’s part of the reason why they wont bring back a season 2.
I can’t even access the tv series to watch it. I used to watch it on hulu, but it’s no longer there. I looked for it on Netflix, but it’s not there either. However, you can watch it online, but I don’t know how to access that online….. Seriously, why so complicated. If you want people to watch the series make it easy to find and watch…..

When will television franchises get it that there are so many cable cutters out here, and our numbers are growing! We don’t watch the shows live; we see them when they show up on Netflix or Hulu, and then we fall in love with these shows only to find out that they’ve been cancelled. Netflix gets it, Hulu gets it, NBC, CBS, HBO, they all are starting to get it and are offering apps so that we can watch shows as soon as they have it.
This show is amazing!!! Its insanely captivating and its a good show for people to see that the Bible really is an exciting book! Please don’t stop after just one season!!!
Overall I enjoyed it, however I’m not surprised it was cancelled. Frankly, I’d get up to watch Sofia Black-Elias read a farm report at 4am with a big smile on my face. The mid-season plot twist I felt was very well done and well foreshadowed. Special effects were decent, though I feel they could have done more with super-strength boy, the cheap 80s cut-aways were lame. However, my biggest issue was the gentlemen who played Joshua and Raul. They just are poor actors, Joshua particularly. He almost paused to think, “My line is…” before delivering it. Really enjoyed watching episodes. Watched them all on netflix . All in one day i might add didnt want to stop watching. Disappointed that it was cancelled. It waa getting even better. Please continue.
I’m completely disappointed that there will be no season 2, I fell in love with show from the first episode… the characters, their gifts, the connections, and their mission all made for a great show. Bill Bellamy’s Mr. Box Office is still on, as well as First Family; yet, you cancel the Messengers (mind you, I’m black)? Same thing when I read they were cancelling The Wedding Singer (Brian A. Green), Helix, and Extant… keep the wack and cancel the awesome!
You can’t just cancel a show with The Messengers’ ending for the season, it just doesn’t work out. Continue the show!
