TV show description:
Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales) is a 22 year-old art school graduate who’s struggling to stay afloat financially. She lives with her best friend, Lacey (Brit Morgan), in an illegal sublet and bounces from one temp job to another while wondering (with the help of her mother’s daily nagging) what she wants to do with her life.

Wendy’s life is thrown into turmoil during a run-of-the-mill temp assignment at a local lab, when a science experiment goes very wrong. She’s miraculously rescued by The Middleman (Matt Keeslar), a handsome gun-wielding hero who comes out of nowhere to save the day. It turns out he’s a covert operator who protects humanity from any danger that mankind’s not prepared to face.

The milk-drinking and ruggedly wholesome Middleman is in need of a new assistant in his fight against otherworldly evil and thinks Wendy fits the bill. After a series of rigorous tests, Wendy is recruited into the Middleman ranks.

Now helping to fight comic book-esque criminals, Wendy tries to wrap her head around her new and strange situation. But the Middleman is sure she can do the job, even though his cranky robot assistant, Ida (Mary Pat Gleason), questions his every choice.

Wendy soon learns that there are plenty of unfathomable perils to contain and that finding time to focus on her painting is easier said than done. Now living a double life, she must find a way to balance her undercover Middleman missions with her “normal” life.
