Debra Messing had a long and successful run on NBC on Will & Grace while later series Smash was cancelled after two seasons. How do things look for The Mysteries of Laura? Will it see a second season?
The Mysteries of Laura revolves around a brilliant-but-harried NYPD homicide detective (Messing) who must also juggle her home life, including raising her young twin boys and trying to divorce her husband. The rest of the cast includes Josh Lucas, Laz Alonso, Janina Gavankar, Max Jenkins, Vincent Reina, and Charlie Reina.
The series debuted in September to a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.19 million viewers. It was an okay start for a new drama on NBC. The demo dropped 25% in week two while viewership dropped only slightly.
Unfortunately, the ratings have continued to drop over the course of the season. Mysteries of Laura recently hit a new series low with a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 5.82 million viewers.
The show’s ratings are poor and it could easily be cancelled. However, NBC is still having only mixed success with their overall schedule. Depending on their current crop of show pilots, their schedule problems could be enough of a reason for the network execs to renew Laura for a second season.
We’ll likely have to wait until May (when the networks announce their 2015-16 schedules) to find out if Debra Messing will be back on NBC next fall.
But, what do you think? Do you like The Mysteries of Laura? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Keep the show entertaining and the entire cast is fun to watch !
I love the show and hope for a second season! They should renew- it’s a great! I can’t get enough.
I love this show. I watch it all the time. It’s so refreshing and makes me laugh. Not to many shows on TV now that are so pleasing to watch with or without the children in the room. Please renew for another season.
I love the show!
Funny and cute show. Nothing like it on TV .. RENEW !
CANCEL IT. Never watch the show since the beginning and NBC needs bigger fish to fry to find a hit in the 8 p.m. Wednesday night time slot next season. Even Revolution couldn’t overcome its chances since it got bailed out from that Voice lead-in last time around.
Cute show, the cast is terrific , renew please
Love the show! Really like the cast and the dynamics between them. Entertaining. Makes me laugh
Just love it and the Captain, I’m sorry but he looks fine to me.
I like the show. I could do without the kids and a different captain but Debra Messing is good as a cop.
I love Debra Messing and thought she was great in her previous shows. Especially Will & Grace and the Starter Wife. The cast is great, but the show is too campy or not campy enough, writing seems rough and not worthy!! it is also up against SVU and Chicago: PD so it needs to hit those levels or be completely different.
A very good series. Definitely a keeper. Good humor, good acting, very entertaining.
definitely a keeper. Most entertaining. Good humor, good drama, not a lot of needless gore and stupidity.
Love the show. Keep it
Cancel… Non-realistic in the police procedure area especially with ex-wife and ex-husband working in the same precinct. DM plays a non-realistic ex-wife while plays a usual ex-husband. What a farce?
It’s a story/fantasy and all stories that are not true are meant to take the reader/watcher to a different place and time. Why does every story have to be real? It’s entertainment. If I wanted to know exactly what goes on at the PD Precinct I’d go there and watch. If you want real then pick up a history book or watch the history channel. just sayn
