When The Nate Berkus Show was cancelled earlier this year, some thought that Berkus’ old friend Oprah Winfrey should bring his TV series over to the OWN channel. Well, that’s exactly what’s happened.
Unfortunately, OWN has merely picked up the existing two seasons of Nate Berkus and won’t be producing any new installments. Though local stations can continue to air the Berkus show until September 7th, many have already pulled it off the air.
OWN has also purchased the rights to show the first five seasons of Rachael Ray, a series that continues to run in daytime.
Here’s the press release:

Los Angeles, CA – OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network has acquired the exclusive cable rights to “Rachael Ray” from CBS Television Distribution and “The Nate Berkus Show” from Harpo Studios. What do you think? Are you happy that you’ll be able to continue to be able to watch the two seasons of Nate Berkus on OWN?
Miss Nate so much. His amazing talents, HUGE HEART, which is for REAL!!! Bought his amazing book, THE THING THAT MATTERS. Record all his shows, repeats, that are on OWN. So at least I can get the benefit of his amazing talents. Keep your light shining through our TV screens. Hope he will have his own Design Show soon!!!! LOVE HIM
I am very sad that good programs like Nate and Rachael Ray are going to cable. Not everyone has or can afford cable and still use antenna t.v. (with a converter box). There are many Americans that are just getting by on a very little income by no fault of there own (lay-offs, health reasons, divorce etc.). Please Oprah give us poor people a break. Please help Nate Berkus and Rachael Ray stay on antenna t.v.
I think it is terrible that Oprah is starting to buy the rights for other shows and doesn’t
think about the people who can’t afford to buy cable or extra shows. She use to be compassionate for others. I am on a fixed income of social secuirty, have worked hard
all my life didn’t get to go to college no grants or free ride–I supported my children all by
myself. The is a lot of people who sometimes can’t afford their medication let alone purchase own.
I am shocked that The Nate Berkus show is off the air!! It is a wonderful show and Nate is such a pleasant personality. I never missed an episode and as a result, my home is oh, so cute! I loved all the creative ideas, especially House Proud. Please bring it back to HGTV.
I’m shocked! I thought the show was delightful and very educational. Do we really need more talk shows??? Hopefully they will bring the show back and do away with a couple talk shows and Judge So-n-So shows.
I don’t watch tv very often during the day but the one show I adored the most was the Nate Berkus show. I hope that someone will reliance what a refreshing up beat show it was. There is so much on tv about negative things Nate Berkus actually was happy and found ways to help us help ourselves with not a lot of money make our homes look like we did, along with the savings people got a sense of accomplishment.
WOW, big WOW, I just can’t emagine they would do that, I loved watching Nate and not all of us are fortunate enough to get OWN, although I love Oprah and Am quite frankly she left daytime television also. someone please contact me as to what I needed The Nate Berkus Show to do for my God Forsaken Kitchen.
Nate Berkus. Show was the best!! Discontinue a very happy informative show. And air really stupid shows about who did who and just plain BS!
Come on people! Do y’all really no what the majority of the public likes?
I did not know his show had been cancelled =(. No wonder why I can’t find it on TV anywhere. It was on OWN for a while and now it’s GONE! Come on Oprah bring Nate Back! I miss his show!!
I was a devoted fan of the Nate Berkus show, if i couldn’t be home to watch it i wouldn’t forget to set my dvr to record, i still have so many episodes saved and continue to watch them. I think it’s a huge shame to do away with a show (Nate Berkus Show) that offered people like me to watch someone like Nate sharing his extreme talent (as well as his good looks, wink), I think that Nate is very talented and he has such a genuine soul, I will truly miss your show Nate!! With all the trash… Read more »
