TV show description:
An American Idol-style competition between groups of varying ages and singing styles.
From thousands of audition tapes and 60 in-person auditions, a dozen bands are chosen to compete in the on-air competition. Each week, the bands perform some combination of an original song and/or previously released song(s) from a particular genre or artist(s).
The performances are critiqued by Australian Idol judge Ian “Dicko” Dickson, singer Sheila E., and John Rzeznik of The Goo Goo Dolls. Following the performances, viewers are invited to vote for their favorites with the least popular band being eliminated the following week.
The winners of the competition are rewarded with a recording contract from 19 Recordings.
The show is hosted by New Zealand Idol host Dominic Bowden.
