On Monday, ABC unveiled their new daytime show, The Revolution, and the ratings were anything but revolutionary. One has to wonder if the execs are second-guessing their decision to cancel One Life to Live.
Per the ratings for Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, The Revolution debuted to a 1.9 rating. That was a drop of 21% from its lead-in which averaged a 2.4 rating. One year earlier, now-cancelled One Life to Live was averaging a 2.3 rating.
For the show’s second airing, The Revolution did even worse — dropping 16% to a 1.6 rating.
While it’s too early to tell if The Revolution will be a flop, this certainly wasn’t a positive start — especially considering Monday was a holiday and more people were home than is typical for a weekday. On the positive side for the network, new series is cheaper to produce than the soap opera that it replaced.
Created by J.D. Roth, sometime TV host and an executive producer on The Biggest Loser, The Revolution is a lifestyle talk show that shows five month personal makeovers in five days. The TV series is hosted by Ty Pennington, Tim Gunn, therapist Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, and exercise guru Harley Pasternak.
What do you think? Have you watched The Revolution? Do you think that it will be a success, even if it doesn’t perform as well as One Life to Live? Could this help save General Hospital?

I watched the Revolution one time and their exercise guru completely turned me off of the show. He was so cold and calloused to the overweight girl that I found it unacceptable to anyone. No one should ever be talked down too and that was what he was doing. Bring back my favorites….One Life to Live and All my Children. I miss them so much!!!
i watched the show once and never again. we want AMC and OLTL back.
I have been a faithful OLTL fan for over 30 years and will not watch either of the show that replaced AMC or OLTL!! The only show on ABC that I have watch and will continue to support is GH! Since OLTL went off the air we haven’t watched anything in my house on ABC or Disney. ABC/Disney made such a huge mistake cancelling the show. They have such a loyal following and we are fighting to get our shows back. Don’t mess with a scorned soap fan.
No more ABC for me since they canceled OLTL and AMC…..I’m pretty sure they won’t bring the soaps back, so again we see a MIGHTY FALL! Too bad this used to be my favorite network
I am a faithful viewer of One Life to Live and this new show stinks. I think ABC made a big mistake by taking off OLTL and AMC to say money. Looks like they are loosing it now. Bring back our family of the soaps.
There isn’t going to be a positive side until ABC sees that these two shows are not what people want.
Never watch either show!! Bring back, ALL MY CHILDREN, ONE LIFE TO LIVE!! Keep GENERAL HOSPITAL!!
Since the cancellation of both AMC and OLTL I too no longer watch anything in those time slots. I wish ABC would realize what a bad move it was to cancel both of those fantastic soaps that had been on the air FOREVER!!! Wonder if there would ever be a possibility for ABC to swallow their pride and put our beloved shows back on the air? I doubt it but would love to see the shows revived somewhere and soon!
GREAT! Cancel …The Revelution…Put One Life to Live and All My Children back on…and all ABC executives should be made to appologize for their DUMB move.
As a huge fan og One Life to Live I would never watch this show and have to say the commercials look awful , what was abc thinking ?
ABC is no longer be viewed in my home! Unless AMC & OLTL are put back on the air! Period!!!
revolution IS TERRIBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with you 100%
Watched the first and second day….it stinks never cared for Tye Pennington and his big mouth…and why is it always men (gay men) telling women wear? I have gay friends who would not think of telling me what to wear…they ask me to help them! So no I will not be watching.
Since OLTL has been canceled, I no longer watch tv in that time slot. What a dumb idea to cancel our soap and put another talk show on in it’s place was even dumber. I hope the ratings keep dropping and someone wakes up and cares about what we like.
Exactly!
I will NEVER watch either show. I have watched AMC & OLTL for so many years. The shows have grown in my heart over the years and have filled a lonely void for many people. It was a soap, a story with a family that kept you the viewer coming back for more…to see what they were up to and to relax and enjoy quality acting. So many fine actors have come from soaps. No one will come from the new shows. We have a million talk shows & food shows. Who needs any more? Seriously!!!
same here i will not watch either show i want amc and oltl back please
This what they get for getting rid of tried and true. I am still furious at the cancellation of One Life to Live and I refuse to watch it’s replacement….period. Even when I didn’t get home at lunch to watch OLTL I would record it. Shame on you ABC.
I agree with you 100%.
I agree!!! Why on earth add more and ruin a good thing!!!!!!
No wont watch any of the new programs, have swithched to channel 2. How many more cooking shows or self improvement shows can you put on the air, they are so boring. Cant wait for the soaps to return to the internet or cable, I for one will watch for sure.
