On Monday, ABC unveiled their new daytime show, The Revolution, and the ratings were anything but revolutionary. One has to wonder if the execs are second-guessing their decision to cancel One Life to Live.
Per the ratings for Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, The Revolution debuted to a 1.9 rating. That was a drop of 21% from its lead-in which averaged a 2.4 rating. One year earlier, now-cancelled One Life to Live was averaging a 2.3 rating.
For the show’s second airing, The Revolution did even worse — dropping 16% to a 1.6 rating.
While it’s too early to tell if The Revolution will be a flop, this certainly wasn’t a positive start — especially considering Monday was a holiday and more people were home than is typical for a weekday. On the positive side for the network, new series is cheaper to produce than the soap opera that it replaced.
Created by J.D. Roth, sometime TV host and an executive producer on The Biggest Loser, The Revolution is a lifestyle talk show that shows five month personal makeovers in five days. The TV series is hosted by Ty Pennington, Tim Gunn, therapist Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, and exercise guru Harley Pasternak.
What do you think? Have you watched The Revolution? Do you think that it will be a success, even if it doesn’t perform as well as One Life to Live? Could this help save General Hospital?

The Revolution is no different than many other shows. You can watch this type of fodder in the morning, afternoon or evening.
There is nothing interesting or exciting about watching “Chew” or “Revolution” . These shows are a dime a dozen and I have no desire to see someone have a makeover each day. Or for that matter new recipes. There are numerous “awesome” cooking shows on and the Chew is not one of them. Bring back the soaps — having been watching for over 40 years and they keep you tuning in day after day. Some new exec thinks he knows better I guess.
I absolutely love The Revolution. It has motived me to be a healthier woman. What could be bad about that. I hope it runs forever.
I was home sick today and was able to watch “The Revolution”. I love the show but will not be able to watch it unless I’m home sick. PLEASE PUT THIS ON IN THE EARLY EVENING. I want to watch this show.
Should have kept OLTL!!! I don’t like Revolution at all!! Please listen and bring OLTL back !!! I read it is cheaper to produce these other shows but when nobody is watching does it really matter??
Boring, boring, boring. After two days, I just turned it off.
I would never watch it. The same information is readily available in a million other places if someone needs it, and it sounds very condescending. OLTL was a great, one-of-a-kind show that was never better as far as writing, acting, and humor is concerned. What a waste. Is it really too late to bring it back????????? PLEASE???
Too many reality shows out there already. Not everyone cares about them. Big mistake to cancel a long running daytime show like OLTL and AMC. There are alot of fans out there and you should have considered them and your ratings first.
If you aren’t liking the Revolution on ABC then please join the real revolution click the link and protest ,http://www.change.org/petitions/abc-cancel-the-revolution
I think the name hurts it. The Revolution sounds both presumptuous and is also too strong a word for a morning show. Hope it succeeds, though. Love Ty Pennington and Tim Gunn. No idea who the others are. ABC evening program is terrific! Hope they can make the same magic with their daytime roster somehow.
I hope the Revolution is a flop! I’ve left messages and emails to ABC along with so many other viewers and no response from them! We are all fans of our family in Lanview. A family that was taken away from us without anyone asking because ABC decided they would let us know what we should watch for now on. Something families have watched together for generations was just gone. Part of our every day routines was replaced. It is not sitting right with so many of us. We watched actors grow and strive everyday for years who now don’t… Read more »
Everyone I know is praying that “The Revolution” and “The Chew” both get cancelled very, very soon. With the poor ratings they’re getting, I am sure it’s going to happen, and I will be absolutely delighted! ABC deserves to go bankrupt for putting these two worthless shows on and taking off the soap operas, which BOTH had higher ratings than either one of these dumb talk/food shows. And then they want to hire that old, washed-up has-been Katie Couric for a talk show and pay her 40 million dollars a year?????? Good God! ABC has become the laughinstock of all… Read more »
Should have kept OLTL. Big mistake. Viewers are going to revolt. What would you expect? OLTL was one of the soaps that entwined humor and drama beautifully.
SUCK UP AND BRING IT BACK!!!!
would watch either if they were they last 2 shows on broadcast tv!
OLTL and GH all the way!!!
HaHa Shame on you ABC for taking our soaps from us the only reason you got 1.9 viewers the first day was because I forgot to turn the channel on my tv because I wasnt home to watch your stupid new show both these new shows are going to flop big time maybe you should have left our shows alone I promise you rite now what ever shows you try to put on wont be watched you guys really screwed your selves over it sucks to be you…
