It seems not even magic couldn’t help bring the ratings up. The CW has cancelled The Secret Circle after one season of 22 episodes.
A supernatural series, The Secret Circle follows teenager Cassie Blake (Britt Robertson) who, after moving to Chance Harbor, discovers that she is a witch and part of a young secret coven. The show also stars Thomas Dekker, Gale Harold, Phoebe Tonkin, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Shelly Hennig, Louis Hunter, Ashley Crow, and Natasha Henstridge.
When the season began, it looked like The CW had found the perfect match for their big hit, The Vampire Diaries. The premiere drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.05 million viewers. These days, those are excellent numbers for the smallest network.

In week two, the ratings dropped 31% but were still strong by CW standards. Unfortunately, over the course of the season, they have tumbled downward. They’ve gone as low as 0.5 rating with just 1.14 million viewers. Other CW shows were performing better and they didn’t have the advantage of having such a strong lead-in.
On our CW Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demographic numbers of shows on the network, The Secret Circle has a “B+” grade. That grade however is heavily reliant on the early season numbers and the show hasn’t been pulling those in months.
If The CW had renewed Secret Circle for a second season, the ratings would likely have been lower when it returned in the fall — lower still without a Vampire Diaries lead-in.
The CW has different standards for success than other networks and derives income from other sources beyond broadcast viewing. They also have just 10 hours of primetime space available. It just didn’t make sense to bring Secret Circle back for another season.
The series finale aired on last Thursday night, May 10th, so there won’t be any further resolution for the ongoing storylines.

Next to the cancellation of Alcatraz, this is the most disappointing event of the season. It might not have helped, but next season I would have moved it to Friday with Supernatural if they didn’t want to have it taking the prime spot with Vampire Diaries instead of cancelling the show.
Seriously want this and Ringer back. Thursday nights just weren’t great for me, so I watched it online. And I watched them on the CW app back when it worked, but now it’s just so buggy! Anyway, I loved this show and thought it had great potential to last a long time! It was completely unfair to cancel after one season–they hardly even gave them a chance!

Keep TSC & Ringer!!! When will they ever start considering the downloaded rating! Some people just don’t have the time to watch it every week when it airs. Doesn’t mean the show isn’t loved! I know downloading isn’t how the network makes money, but who’s fault is that! The show must go on…

I think I’m just gonna stop watching th cw all together. The shows just keel getting cancelled and I’m tired of investing time in a show just to have it end with no closure. See ya!!!
WHAT?! ITS CANCELLED!! I live in England and we havent had the finale yet but now that i know its cancelled im very upset! It was a great show and very interesting! Oh well have to watch something else then on wednesday night :'(
The show did have a pitfall in the middle of the season but I think the second season would have been PHENOMENAL. The story lead ins were so great and the season finale was amazing! I don’t understand why it was cancelled. So many other shows can be cancelled and they should run another season of this show to see about ratings! I am going to miss secret circle so much! Please bring it back..
I am highly upset and disappointed that The Secret Circle has been cancelled. I looked forward to Thursdays just to watch the show. The show that should have been cancelled is that Hart of Dixie show. With the success of such movies like Twilight & Harry Potter, I thought the CW had a gold mine when they started The Secret Circle. It was just never given a fighting chance.

I watch only the vampire diaries, ringer, and secret circle. Those are my favorite shows and the only ones i watch. And they cancelled two of them. They gave heart of Dixie and these shows coming out that are completely stupid if you ask me. I will never watch any of those other shows and now all I have is one show to watch. I believe that CW is making a big mistake not renewing another season of the secret circle and ringer.

Question is with all this negativatity towards CW, why hasn’t someone started a boycott or a petition to bring this show back? It worked for Family Guy.
