FOX won’t be the only network with a cooking competition next season. ABC has renewed The Taste for a third season.
The Taste is a culinary competition that pits professional and amateur cooks against one another in weekly challenges. The most recent judges/mentors were Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Ludo Lefebvre, and Marcus Samuelsson. Brian Malarkey, the winning coach from the first season, was replaced by Samuelsson.
The show’s first season averaged a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.51 million viewers. It was renewed for a second season which started airing this past January. The sophomore year drew just a 1.1 demo rating (down 32%) with 3.69 million (down 18%).
Despite this very poor performance, the network has decided to bring The Taste back for a third season. It’s slated to return mid-season, likely as a timeslot placeholder.

So glad this was renewed. It has been a long time since I really looked forward to the next “episode” of anything, especially on the Networks. I don’t watch Reality shows either. This is the exception. IMHO, here are shows that should be kept on air even with lower “DEMO” ratings, because 18-49 yr. olds are not the only viewers in the world. Can’t wait ’till the “boomers” get their stats back.

I love this show!!! I am hooked. I never missed a show or season. Nothing came between me n the taste every Thursday night. It’s nice to see people exploring and sharing their ideas and recipes!!! Please don’t cancel this show!!! It’s the best.

Poor ratings for The Taste only means that most Americans have no taste. This show rocks and Bourdain is a food god.
I really enjoyed the show. I look forward to season 3. Maybe they can get rid of the arrogant frenchman and have a more personable chef take his place.

We all love the taste. … we record it & the 4 if us watch out on our days off. We can only hope Nigella picks some winners next season. She’s a real sweetheart!
