Even though Starz just premiered their new TV series, The White Queen, we already know there won’t be a second season.
Based on Philippa Gregory’s bestselling historical novel series The Cousin’s War, The White Queen tells the story of three very different women as they attempt to scheme, manipulate and seduce their way onto the English throne. The cast includes Max Irons, James Frain, Rebecca Ferguson, Janet McTeer, Ben Lamb, Amanda Hale, Tom McKay, Aneurin Barnard, David Oakes, Faye Marsay, and Eleanor Tomlinson.
The show is co-financed by the BBC in the United Kingdom and Starz here in the states. The 10-part series began airing on BBC1 in June and completed its run last Sunday night.
According to Broadcast Now, the BBC has maintained that The White Queen was intended to run just one season. However, Gregory had hinted that there were hopes to continue the drama via an adaptation of The White Princess. That novel follows the story of Elizabeth of York who went on to marry Henry VII, the first Tudor King.
It now appears that a continuation won’t be happening. A BBC spokesperson said, “The White Queen will not be returning, but it is important to note that it was never actually conceived as a returnable series.”

Fantastic!, another great show in the trashbin. Then again, anything good is always chucked off. I would like to avoid any hostile discourse about the BBC or STARz.

I’m very disappointed that I won’t get to see a season two for the White Queen. As many fans have… I fell in love with this show. So sad BBC…

What the hell do you mean no season two why? This your money maker and your block buster come on bring it back. These lives collide and teach us women nore self control than anyother parts of history and this best of the best bring it back and give us the drama that we really want ….enough with the vampire love bs and encore the real history….this is real life this is real good tv now let your doubts go and give us aanother dose.

WHAT?! How do you suck us all in and then just quit!!! That makes no sense! There has to be a season 2! First of all, you all ended the first season leaving us in suspicion. We have no idea who takes the thrown after almost everyone is killed! And what happens to Elizabeth! Get it together! Get a new sponsor! This NEEDS to continue! Thanks !
I absolutely agree that it warrants another series. But if not, you can look up the history. Henry Tudor who wins that last battle does become king – Henry VII.
I loved this series, i was late in watching it! I loved it so much that I got many of my friends to watch it only to find out this week that there won’t be a season 2. The Characters were very interesting and racy! I found myself loving and hating characters only to sympathizing with them in just the next episode!!! PLEASE MAKE A SEASON 2
OMGosh….I thought it was a series, not mini-series. I won’t recommend it to my friends because I don’t want them to be disappointed, even though I loved the “mini-series” personally. Very sad watcher….
