To little surprise, CBS has pulled Three Rivers from the Sunday night schedule, effective immediately. Will the show be back? Has it been cancelled?
Three Rivers follows a group of dedicated doctors and medical staffers who help those in need of organ transplants. The series stars Alex O’Loughlin, Katherine Moennig, Daniel Henney, Justina Machado, Christopher Hanke, Amber Clayton, and Alfre Woodard.
The medical drama got off to a slow start in the ratings back in early October. Unfortunately, the numbers only got worse as the weeks wore on and it became a likely candidate for early cancellation.
To CBS’ credit, the network has been patient with the series and has kept it on the air. Two weeks ago, the network tried switching timeslots with Cold Case. While the veteran crime drama benefited from the time change and attracted more viewers, Three Rivers did not.
Three Rivers has now been pulled from the Sunday night schedule. As expected, Cold Case will slip into the earlier timeslot and repeats of various crime dramas will take over at 10pm.
A CBS spokesperson has said that Three Rivers’ fate has not yet been decided but the network has not ordered any additional installments beyond the initial 13 episodes.
Eight episodes of the drama have been aired, leaving five on the shelf. CBS will likely burn them off either on Saturdays or during the summer months but, unless the execs have a major change of heart, Three Rivers is essentially cancelled.
What do you think? What went wrong with Three Rivers? Is Sunday night football to blame for the show’s failure to attract more viewers or was the show flawed?

Three Rivers is a good show. It would be a shame to cancel it. It is hard to fine a really good show on TV anymore. This is like when ABC removed Elia Stone from their lineup. That was a fantastic show!
I loved this show but I sure didn’t like them moving Cold Case either. So maybe if they try it on a different day
I LOVED Three Rivers!!!!! I sure hope they reconsider!
There is plenty of sport channels why does CBS have to invade our regularly aired shows? OF COURSE it affected Three Rivers and it success. Not to mention EIGHT episodes! Come on that’s not enough time to give anything a try!
Every show that has aired on CBS that need focus, attention has been canceled what does this say about the viewers?
CBS should know it takes more time to get a real review than eight episodes.
Three Rivers deserves that’s, its a wonderful show for the whole family!
I can not believe that 3 rivers has been cancelled. I think the show was great and also has changed my mind as far as becoming an organ donor. I also think it is the best medical show on since Chicago Hope and ER. I have looked for it now for 3 weeks and hated to fin out that it has been cancelled.
Three Rivers is an amazing show; I would hate to see it canceled.
Donating organs is not wide spread in this country. This show presented to viewers the reasons why they should become donors. I cannot believe that CBS executives would believe that CIS shows would be more important organ donors. They pulled the Unit, another great show which was replaced by yet another Reality Show.
You cannot have more real that saving someone elses
The problem with Three Rivers si Sunday night football! The show was never on at its slotted time. The football game was always in overtime and the show was always on late it is always anyones guess when Three Rivers would air. How could any show survive that. I say put on a different time actually a different day and see what happens it need a dpendable showtime!
I loved Moonlight and I loved three rivers and CBS has once again let me down by cancelling another show before you even give it time to take off. I havent tuned in to watch one t.v. show on cbs for the past three weeks and I wont ever watch another show on that network. I am done. My husband and I both enjoyed watching both programs and he is fed up as well.
I loved it!!! Please bring it back. I do not watch tv much and Three Rivers was one of the 3 shows that I wash a week.:(
I am a nurse and absolutly love this show. It has a great story line. It also shows the importance of being a donor. It shows people how you can safe another life by donating your organs. What about all these other programs that has no good storylines? Being in the medical field I enjoyed this show and wished it was placed in a different time slot. How can any show compete against football? I really think it needs to be placed on a different day. I know many people that loved Three Rivers. I have always enjoyed CBS but… Read more »
I really liked this show. I thought it was awsome. Please bring it back.
Please bring back Three Rivers. It was one of the best show in a long time. It was clean and interesting. I think it needs to be in a different night for better ratings. PLEASE BRING BACK THREE RIVERS CBS.
Three Rivers is a great show. Hope CBS brings it back on another night…perhaps Friday nights. The show makes you realize the importance of organ donation.
Please, Please, Please Bring Three Rivers back…….
Working in the nursing profession I like watching the show because it is one of the shows on television that actually showed real aspects of organ donation. I know of several other people other than myself that Loved (Really Loved) watching this show…..I have been looking every Sunday since the last episode waiting for a new episode with no luck. I agree with other viewers when they say try a different day and a different time slot…..PLEASE…PLEASE…PLEASE…PLEASE BRING THREE RIVERS BACK…PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
