It was a very solid opening for Touch. The series had the second-best premiere of the season on any network (behind Once Upon a Time) and the third best debut of FOX’s current season, behind only by New Girl and Napoleon Dynamite.
FOX has used Idol to launch several new shows over the years — Glee, Human Target, Lie to Me, and Fringe — but Touch retained a higher percentage than any of them.
Will the numbers hold up? We’ll have to wait until the second episode airs on Monday, March 19th to find out.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Touch TV series? Do you hope that it’s cancelled or renewed for a second season?

Tired, tired of hearing the name Jake being yelled out over and over and over and over. The constant huffing and puffing is so annoying!!! Probably won’t watch it anymore.
Love, Love, Love this show!!! I’m absolutely thrilled that Kiefer is back! This show has it all….drama, action packed, makes you think and all the while it’s pulling at your heartstrings. Excellent show! I’m hooked!!
Pilot was great, but this story seemed to run out of steam early. It was way more predictable. We’ll see what the future brings.
This was the best pilot I’ve seen in years. I’m totally hooked and can’t wait to see where the take this. Kiefer is brilliant!
Loved Touch. Can’t wait for the next episode!!! Loved Sutherland and Mazouz!! Such an interesting plot and I loved how it all came together in the end.
Are you sure it is 19.5 million people? cause on the other page I saw it was 11.9! so which one is right?
Jack » No, that was a typo. Thanks for the catch.
Looks like a great new series. So glad to see Kiefer Sutherland back!
Love the touch show
Loved it! I agree, best new TV series I have seen in years! And very true to autism in some important ways. (I had a brother and have a niece who are autistic mutes much like the child in the show.) High production values. Surprising twists in some of the characters. Intricate interlocking plotlines that hold your interest throughout. (The synchronicities do stretch credibility, but that is sort of the point.) And I stumbled on this show completely by “accident,” which made me feel like part of the show, with its theme of synchronicity. They have laid a solid foundation… Read more »
Love it!!!!
Really good show – touching stories, very moving. I liked the gentle tone. The math/mysticism ploy is a little hard to take (my husband is a science teacher) but the heart of the show is very well done. There’s a movie from the 80’s called “The Best Defense” that also shows interconnections among people thru time. I recommend finding it.
I think it was outstanding. It is not only entertaining but it makes you think. It will be interesting if the writers can keep coming up with great scripts like the first one. The acting is superb.
Kiefer Sutherland was excellant in “24” and once again, although a very different role, has proven himself to be a fine actor. It was so touching to watch him as a loving father, trying to connect with his non-verbal son with autism. Two months to wait for the next episode is just too long to wait for such a captivating series to continue. I can’t wait!
Unbelievable!!! That has to be the best new T.V. Series I have seen in years. It has all the elements to keep audiences entertained . You have a knockout I hope those who have not seen it take the time to watch… They will not be disappointed. I look forward to the series, but having to wait until March is just unfair. lol
I really enjoyed the pilot but am confused as to why episode two is almost two months away. Sad
