NBC has renewed their low-rated summer sitcom Undateable for a second season. Executive producer Bill Lawrence tweeted the news and wrote, “Overexcited to do 2nd season of a Undateable on NBC. #pickedup.”
Undateable follows a group of single friends who are trying to figure out the fine art of relationships. The cast includes Chris D’Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches, Rick Glassman, David Fynn, and Bianca Kajlich.
The series debuted in late May to a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.84 million viewers. The ratings declined over the course of the season, falling as low as a 0.6 demo rating with 2.24 million. The season averaged a 0.9 rating with 2.78 million.
While those numbers certainly aren’t good, they aren’t bad if you consider the series aired during the summer — and how poorly NBC’s regular comedy series performed during the regular season.
What do you think? Are you glad that Undateable has been renewed for a second season or, should it have been cancelled instead?
Glad Itas coming back we love that show
Best news ever! I think this show is hilarious!
Loved the show! Hope it doesnt hurt it being on
In the summer!
This show is hilarious…it has been awhile since I laughed so hard!
It’s an incredible stupid comedy!!, why renew it? maybe NBC is out of options….I don’t see another reason to keep it alive…
I’m absolutely elated. I find cast & content equally delightful. Especially love the energy of the show as well as the chemistry between Chris & Brent. Thank you NBC!
Dumb yes but works. Very entertaining!
This is amazing! I read a few weeks ago that the show was cancelled and I stopped watching all nbc summer shows. This show was the best show since Big Bang and New Girl. I love the chemistry and all the characters. Now, I will start to give Welcome to Sweden a chance. NBC you regained one Viewer. Although, I am still upset about Conan. At least, he is still on TBS, though. Super excited about Undateable, especially, when I read that it was cancelled.
Unwatchable. A test pattern would be more entertaining.
I so agree. It’s not that I don’t enjoy some silly, mindless humor at times, but we have those already on TV Land’s original comedy shows. I expect more from the Networks, but I also expected more from the viewers, but there appear to a be a number of viewers who appreciate this dreck. Having it go a season does make it easier for me though. It gives me one less show to record.
Great group of people, have watched every episode, if I missed it on tv made sure I watched it on recording. Kudos to the writers and director. Have been a fan since SOAP Mr Wass!
This show is like cheers, friends, and how I met your mother rolled into one. This is a show you don’t need to follow to enjoy on nights you just want to laugh!
Undateables is the best comedy I have seen in years never laughed so hard!!The time slot isn’t good but I DVR it every week and totally enjoy it. Thank you for another season of laughter.
I only watched because of Chris D’Elia and found myself falling in love with the show’s goofy, silly, sweet humor and I ended up having affections for all the characters. I’m very happy this show is being renewed for a second season. I think this show is definitely good enough for a second chance.
Wow. That is amazing, I thought it was already canceled. It might be one of the worst comedies on television, but there are people who need this kind of low level humor. You rock NBC.
when you have as many poorly rated crappy shows as NBC does, they have to renew a lot of garbage or their schedule will be nothing but a test pattern, which in many cases would probably get higher ratings than their shows.
In case there was some confusion, I was being sarcastic. It is a horrible, cringe-worthy show. I am very surprised that it is still on and renewed. I really like Chris D’Elia, but this show wastes his talent.
You said exactly what I was going to say! But maybe I would’ve said tv instead of television. I feel the same way about Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory. Always floors me what people help become hits.
This is fantastic news! I loved this show and there wasn’t a single episode that didn’t have me laughing! I looked forward to it every week. Finally, NBC has done something intelligent by renewing a show that is good. I’m happy they decided to give this show a chance. Hopefully, for the second season they will put it on a night that will help it, not hurt it. In an incredibly long line of constant mistakes, this is one of the amazingly few things NBC has done right in my eyes.
Great show, I was hoping it wouldn’t get cancelled. It’s a good mix of people that play off each other well. Great writing! Kudos to the writers and the director. Been a fan since SOAP Mr Wass!
