Move over Outlaw, NBC has cancelled another new series. The spy dramedy Undercovers is ending its run after 13 episodes.
Undercovers revolves around a married pair of former spies who are pulled back into service after their close friend goes missing. The TV show features the talents of Boris Kodjoe, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mekia Cox, Carter MacIntyre, Gerald McRaney, and Ben Schwartz.
The series stumbled right out of the gate and attracted a disappointing 2.1 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 8.7 million viewers. In week two, the demo fell by 24% to a 1.6 rating and the numbers essentially kept on falling. Last night’s episode hit a new demo low with a 1.3 rating and 5.913 million total viewers.
Though NBC ordered four additional scripts in mid-October, the studio suspected that that show’s been doomed for quite awhile. Today, the network made it official — Undercovers has been cancelled.
It remains to be seen if fans of the series will get to see all 13 installments. Seven episodes have aired so far and three more are scheduled for November 10th, November 17th, and December 1st. NBC has a Shrek holiday special scheduled for Thanksgiving eve (November 24th) and The Sing-Off will take over the timeslot on December 8th.
Three episodes of Undercovers will be left on the shelf at that point and the network will decide at a later date if or when they’ll air.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Undercovers is coming to an end? Why do you think it didn’t catch on? How would you have fixed it?

Yet another African American show is cancelled! I truly hope that another network saw the potential that we all saw in this series and give it another look. I watched the show faithfully because each week I couldn’t wait to see what new assignment they would receive. Thanks for nothing, NBC. You have joined the ranks of the CW by cancelling a great African Americian series!
Just did a search on Google to see if my fears were true–one of my favorite shows got cancelled. I don’t watch a lot of TV (largely in part to the heinous reality nonsense) so I am very disappointed.
Some of the shows missed the boat by failing to showcase the push/pull between the main characters regarding their past history with the CIA. Those secrets should have been played up more.
So sorry to hear that this uplifting and suspenseful show has been cancelled following such a short run. I thought the program was very entertaining and the lead actors did both a very credible and professional job unraveling the story each week. Further, it was another opportunity to see the talented Gerald McRaney, someone I have missed seeing for awhile. While this program reminded me of an updated version of ” Hart to Hart ” only featuring a multiracial cast and extravagant international locations, I thought the show offered a lot of promise for future NBC programming. Clearly, the fledging… Read more »
Do NOT cancel Undercovers ! My wife and I love it and find the updated Hart to Hart show fun and diverting! Shame on NBC

I dont understand, NBC cancelled a perfectly good show and replaced it with a scrap show called sing off, i dont think they know what they are doing or what people really like, I will no longer watch NBC, undercovers was both exciting and funny, someone should cancel NBC
I loved the show and looked forward to seeing it every week. Every time a show comes out with a strong positive happily married Black couple (example: Lincolin Heights) it gets cancelled. I seriously hope another network picks it up like with Human Target.
What a huge disappointment. It was my favorite show on TV. I looked forward to watching it every week. Can’t the powers that be give it a try at a different time? I’m super sorry to see it go.
I loved the show. It would have done well on Tuesday for me. That night seems to be boring so far. The show reminded me of Hart to Hart with Stephanie Powers and Robert Wagner just updated and more James Bond like. It a shame. I hope they reconsider later on.
I am also sorry to see this canceled. It was a good show. I don’t watch reality tv either. I want to see programs that have drama, comedy and good lines in them. I want to laugh and also get caught up in the suspense. I am not a big fan of NBC programing and very seldom watch this station. I want to be entertained and Undercovers was just that type of show. All the characters were perfectly cast and even my husband who never watches tv got hooked on it. What a shame. Will miss it very much. PLEASE… Read more »
I loved that show. I was wondering what happened.
We never gave the a chance. Move series to Sunday at 9:00 p.m.
I think show had great potential of being a really good spy couple hit. Don’t think you gave it a chance. The actors were all very good, spicy and hot! A shame it was cancelled.
Maybe the time show was on wasn’t a good time slot. I think you should definitely give it another try!
Love the show looked forward to viewing it every week perhaps with a different time slot and day it could have done better. I sincerely hope it is given a another chance.
I concur with the assessment of Rene (December 13, 2010). This show has great possibilities of being a hit.
Every time I invest my time in a show it gets canceled and, sadly, this one had a lot of potential. None of JJ Abrams shows have replaced Alias, but this one could have been the one. What a shame!!
I wish I could be of support because I know how it feels to have one of your favorite shows axed but personally I found this show dead boring. The actors were good but the story was just dead.
