Earlier this year, WGN America cancelled their historical drama Manhattan after two seasons due to low ratings. Will their Underground TV show perform any better or last as long? Cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
Set in 1857 Georgia, Underground follows the heroes of the Underground Railroad who used everything within them to escape bondage and to find lives as free men and women. The large cast includes Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Jessica De Gouw, Alano Miller, Christopher Meloni, Marc Blucas, Reed Diamond, Adina Porter, Amirah Vann, Mykelti Williamson, Theodus Crane, Johnny Ray Gill, Renwick Scott, Jussie Smollett, and Andrea Frankle.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
4/25 update: WGN America has renewed Underground for a second season. Details here.

What do you think? Do you like the Underground TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
It would absolutely break my heart if this show is cancelled. Not only does it tell an important story, but it does so with great writing, producing, directing and acting. This show is riveting and engaging. Perhaps they should promote it more as when I talk to people, many are not aware that it is on television and boy is it great television for a change. Keep it on. Please.
I LOVE UNDERGROUND. IT IS A PART OF AMERICA HISTORY THAT IS NOT TALK ABOUT ENOUGH AND SHOWN IN DETAIL. WHAT BLACKS HAD TO DO FOR FREEDOM. IT REALLY SHOWS THE EVERY DAY STRANGLE AND HARDSHIP OF THE SLAVE IN AMERICA. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL THIS SHOW. IT IS AN OPEN WINDOW FOR A DIALOG ABOUT RACE RELATIONSHIPS IN AMERICA! THANK YOU FOR THE SHOW
