It looks like Unforgettable is joining Reckless on the casualty list this week. CBS has decided to cancel Unforgettable (for the second time) after three seasons on the air.
Unforgettable follows Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery), a police detective who has hyperthymesia — a rare medical condition that gives her the ability to visually remember everything. Unfortunately, the one thing she can’t remember is what happened on the day her sister was killed. The show’s cast also includes Dallas Roberts, Dylan Walsh, Tawny Cypress, James Hiroyuki Liao, and Jane Curtin.
The series debuted on CBS in the fall of 2011 and the first season averaged a 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.3 million viewers. That wasn’t good enough for the network and they cancelled it in May 2012.
Sony Pictures TV (which co-produces with CBS TV Studios) shopped the series to other outlets like TNT and Lifetime. Ultimately, CBS ended up reversing their cancellation to pick it up for a second season of 13 episodes for a Summer 2013 run. They later renewed it for season three and another summer run.
There’s no denying that the numbers have been inching downward. The second season averaged a 1.0 rating with 7.06 million and the third, which wrapped a month ago, averaged a 0.9 rating with 6.09 million.
Talks had reportedly been underway for a fourth season order but, for whatever reason, that’s not happening on CBS.
There are currently 48 episodes of Unforgettable — not enough for a syndication package. However, Sony TV has a history of finding a way to keep shows alive. Though there’s been no word of efforts to find another home for the show yet, the studio has incentive to get more episodes produced for a syndication package.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Unforgettable has been cancelled again? Would you watch a fourth season on another channel?
My wife and I love “Unforgettable.” We were out of town for summer 2014 but managed to record all of the broadcasts on DVR. We just finished watching the Season 3 Finale. Now we need Season 4 all the more in order to find out about the husband. Please bring it back!
Keep this show, Quit putting crap on tv. Son if you want to see decent shows you will have to watch from other countries. They seem to have better sense than People in the U.S.. also KEEP RECKLESS
Keep us fans happy, Keep Unforgettable on. I cannot believe the mindless stupid programs that the networks keep and drop the good quality ones, Its no wonder we are going pay t.v. and dvd at least we can watch movies and shows. CBS Shame on you
Such a shame to hear Unforgettable will not be returning to UK television, loved the characters, storyline and the mystery of who murdered her sister. Yet another good show cancelled.
Not familiar with “Unforgettable” being broadcast in the UK. Were all 48 episodes aired? If not, contact the channel who runs the show, and ask them to continue. Here (in the US) we are trying to get another network to produce new episodes. Thanks.
I just loved Unforgettable and cannot believe it is cancelled. Please bring it back.
We are all rooting for Sony Pictures TV to sell the series to another network. Stay tuned.
Love the show….
We will keep trying, and letting Sony (the owner) know that we want another network to get it. Thanks.
I want to se more Unforgettable.
And so do many many of us. I have nothing new to report. If I get an update, I will alert fans here. Thanks.
I want this show to continue! It just can’t end with the third season like that!
It was a good show and interesting they should find another station to pick it up TNT maybe???
I have not contacted Sony Pictures this month, but I have no doubt that it has been submitted to TNT–and several other networks. TNT has a new programming director. (TNT has had some problems recently, which got media attention.) We will have to watch and wait. Thank you.
Please bring back the show unforgettable
Sony Pictures TV is trying hard to find another network. Let’s hope.
Dear Sony: My 18 year old daughter and I (47 years old) watch this show together, and it is our favorite! The scripts are great, and the actors are superb! And the hyperthemesia concept adds to the intrigue. We are in your top demographic. In our opinion, the shows keep getting better. I am sure the audience will follow. PLEASE……find a home for it. If not CBS, then one of the others. And that way you folks will have enough episodes for syndication which I do not believe you do now. We will even watch the reruns! Make Poppy sign… Read more »
Thanks for writing. I can make no guarantees about Poppy’s pregnancies (lol). I believe she just gave birth. But as to the show, Sony Pictures TV is trying to find a network. Yes, the series only has 48 episodes. I keep track of what goes on at other networks, and this week was tough (for “Unforgettable”). TNT signed 2 brand new series, and USA decided to renew a series I thought they would cancel. And so those are 3 slots (which would have been perfect for “Unforgettable”). Another consideration is production cost. I am guessing it costs $2M (minimum) to… Read more »
This is one of my favorite shows. Please find a new home for it.
I’m disappointed that CBS cancelled Unforgettalbe again! I really like the show, and living near Syracuse, NY, I liked when they would mention Syracuse. I also am disappointed that we won’t know why Carrie’s husband came to see her. I wish another network will pick up this show.
Sony Pictures is trying to find it another home. Let’s keep the fingers crossed.

Many of us are upset about “Unforgettable’s” cancellation. We are hoping that another network will “pick it up,” and do new episodes. I have been in contact with Sony Pictures, who are trying hard to do so. Don’t give up.
This is one of our favorite shows. It makes me sad to think of it not coming back.
Don’t give up. The owner, Sony Pictures TV, is trying to find another home for “U.”
