Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

I also agree with Vera 100%… ABC, you have lost another audience member… It deserves you right and maybe you will do the right thing with V.
at least have some closure even a two hour show
For me, I had trouble with the inconsistent scheduling of the show. It should have been like any other show where it was given a time slot. Also, the fact that it was not allowed to be viewed on Hulu nor ABC.com was another irritation. The show was good but obviously the people who make the decisions are at fault for its cancellation.
This was one of the few things worth watching. It is really too bad it was cancelled. They should have at least ended the show properly. I wanted to see Anna get what was coming to her.
all I can hope for as a fan of this show, is that ABC would at least produce a one hour
“special” to close the series. Come on guys, I am a part of the “TV” generation.
You want us to watch, then don’t frustrate us like this.
As most have indicated, it is a good show, and was developing very well. Sadly, the networks put the show on in mid season, at a different night of the week and at a different time. No wonder the ratings are not there. How can it compete when it’s stacked against the big audience capturing shows.
There’s a lot of really good shows that got axed, and it’s for that very same reason.
I’m hoping the producers will make a two hour movie and give the series some finality – never mind this leaving everyone hanging …….. Need closure, people!!!!
V should not have been canceled.Just look on Facebook. There’s lots of V Groups & they are all upset. At least give us 1 last season to wrap it up or a 2 hr tv movie to wrap it up. I was a huge 80’s V fan & own the series, the mini series & the final battle & now i am a huge V (2009) fan. Please give the fans what they really want. It was not fair that it was left the way it was & then cacelled it.
Thanks
What on earth were you all thinking? Why would you end the series even if you planned to cancel it in such an incomplete way. It literally feels like you all pulled the proverbial TV plug out of the wall while were all watching the episode. Don’t you all remember “Star trek”…. This show is just like that. Have you all not learned that your fans are quite cerebral and not at all into participating in ratings polls, reality TV and those sort of things. When we see something that is rally worth our time , we simply watch and… Read more »
I 100% agree with Vera Farnum Reese “took the words out of my very thought.”
Whoever is in charge at abc needs to be fired!!!! He has no idea what he is doing!!! He is cancelling almost all of there shows and not just primetime doesnt anyone find that alittle odd and very very wrong!!! Why does he still have a job
its not fair for those of us who are true fans of this show… It seems we will never know how this exciting tale ends……

Very Sad. I guess TV execs have not yet figured out that Sci-fi series have some of the most devoted fans. Fans that will buy all sorts of stuff related to the series for years to come — and the longer and better a series, the more that money keeps coming, year after year. I guess they only can think short term — which is HORRIBLE for story telling, and just plain sad for fed-up fans like me. I am sooooo tired of investing in a show, just to see it cancelled. There are many I won’t even bother with,… Read more »
As a huge fan of the original series, it was great to see what was done to reinvent the series and I was a fan from the beginning. By the end of Season 2 it had really started to get good with the resurfacing of old main line characters from the First V Series, like Diana and bringing back Marc Singer in a pivotal role. Now the fans will never know how the story evolves and we really wanted to see Anna get what she deserves. Also, cancelling “No Ordinary Family” which is another brilliant series is a huge mistake.… Read more »
Decisions like cancelling V is the reason that ABC and other networks are dying a slow death. Oh well, you can always fill the time slot with another stupid reality show or better then that leave the time slot vacant that way you dont have to worry about viewership or ratings.
The problem is that broadcasters nowadays insist on showing tv series for only half a season then having a very long break usually up to a year then showing the rest of the season. There’s not much continuity and people forget what’s happened in the shows and drift away from it so the shows never get any real traction. Not sure why broadcasters like ABC insist on doing this as it will rarely work regardless of how good a TV show is. Brilliant show, but like all good shows like SGU, FlashForward, Caprica doomed before they even begin owing to… Read more »
