Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

that should be theme and group of believers
abc did this to The Invaders also. Loved V. It sort of expanded the paranoia them and group of believes that The Invaders did, expanding on the thwarted efforts of the aliens how they might have tried to gain control. They even died in a red glow. NOT HAPPY abc!
Again you all blew it, nobody ask me what I like to watch. This was a good show now you left us hanging, how about putting season 3 on DVD so you can make money off that.
Married with Children had a rough 3 year start and look how they turned out. Bring back “V”.
I’m so tired of the networks cancelling shows in mid plot. They think so little of their viewers they don’t even have the decency to provide a decent finale. It’s like reading a book and then discovering the last 2 chapters have been torn out. And they wonder why their viewership is down. I too shall be weaning myself of watching these networks. Maybe I’ll start checking out the library books where I know they’ll at least be a beginning and end of plot.
Shame on the networks.
I loved this show as a child and adored this remake…. Please give us an ending
guess they would rather have stooopid brain dead REALITY SHOWS instead!! i am SOOOOO SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think they shot themselves in the foot when they declared that V would no longer be able to be aired on Hulu.com. HUGE mistake. All they said was they’d make sure to have informative re-caps at the beginning of each episode. wtf? ABC doomed the continuation of V then and there.
I agree with Grace. If I was an actor, there’s no way in hell I’d work for these people. ABC, you suck. Nuff’ said.
I can not believe they would cancel any series without tying up the loose ends. This is poor programming on ABC’s part. I used to watch all my shows on ABC, but will look to other stations b4 I tune to ABC…….how could it just “Cancel” in mid stream! ABC, if you put on a new series and then decide to cancel, try to “THINK” about your viewers for once and if you decide to cancel, have something to “tie up the loose ends” so we can at least, have closure!!!!! Think about something other than money or you will… Read more »
I am not happy at all! This show was incredible and absorbing. It was the first one I made sure to watch on air time in years! Shame on ABC. I won’t be looking to you for my entertainment any longer.
This is the last new series that I will be watching. I will wait until it has passed its second season before I invest my time in a new show. First, “Invasion, The gates, and V. I am done with all of this.
There should have been a season 3 to, at least, tie up all the loose ends. Perhaps a grand finale should be produced to give real closure. I’ve watched and collected previous “V” series, way back when. Plan to add this 1 to my collection.
ABC does this all the time. This network starts new shows and cancel them all at the same time. If I was an actor/actress, ABC would be the last place I would work on a show. That’s why I don’t waste my time watching their shows. Viewers don’t watch their shows because we don’t like them. We do not watch their shows because we know that ABC is not committed to continuing anything it starts.
This is nuts! The new “V” was a great series. I cannot believe it has been cancelled. & to end it so abruptly with no real conclusion. It’s absurd!
