Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

Bring it back!!! This is an insult to us SCI-FI fans…. especialy when the V armata was on its way here.
I am extremely disappointed in ABC. This was a great show that needed more time and more advertisement. This should have 5.9 million viewers which could have increased had the network given the show a 3rd season. I hope that another network like the SciFi channel or maybe even TNT decides to pick the show up and make loads of money. This cancellation should not have happened.
correction to my comment..This show had 5.9 million viewers…
Unbelievable. ABC is a constant let down! It seems every show I am into has been canceled! First All My Children that I have watched my entire life and now V!? Are you kidding me!? I have been patiently waiting for season 3 thinking it may start in the middle of the season like last year. When they started season 2 late I have a feeling that people were not even aware that it had started. Maybe that’s what happened to the ratings?! As far as I’m concered, I will be tuning into another network!
I’m so tired of these Nimrods, that decide what show to keep and what show to dump all because of ratings. that system needs to go the way of the dinosaur
in todays TV climate arent tv execs smart enough to know when a show will flop? I wish they would make each series with a defined beginning an end. Instead there is always a hundred loose ends which screams screw you to the 2 million viewers who did tune in to watch
at least do a movie to finish all the loose ends
i loved the series cant believe it was canceled.love si -fi and drama.there were alot of messages it was refreshing entertainment away from the crappy reality stuff ..bring it back
Correction on my last comment:
You don´t think about the actors or the fans! I agree that you failure to continue your series on TV has generated mistrust, which is why you don´t have the viewers you want. YOU CANNOT BE TRUSTED!!!! WAKE UP, ABC!
ABC, Are you listening to us? I was reading other fans´comments on you cancelling OUR Vseries midstream. It was a really bad decision. And to think that you have done this before with other series. I agree with several who have commented, that it is no wonder you have few viewers, because they cannot trust you to finish what you start. Sell the series to CM or some other network then, so they can do it and we can enjoy it. You really blew it! You don´t link about the actors or the fans!!!! At this rate you may be… Read more »
I am extremely disappointed that V was cancelled!!!! I cannot understand why it didn´t have more viewers. I really enjoyed the series, and think it is a crying shame that ABC did not risk another season production!!! I too feel they should have finished what they started and before cancelling, should have ran a press conference with the viewers to discuss how the series could have been improved. Smallville of CM ran 10 years, and I feel V was just as good, a different plot which in my mind was a real cliffhanging series. ABC could research the opinions of… Read more »
Nimrods!!!!!
Noooooo
I liked the premise of V very much but can see why it didn’t have enough viewers.
It was way too slow. Each hour-long episode had only half an hour’s worth of plot.
If it had been written more like “24,” it would have gotten twice as many viewers.
It was a great series!! I was looking so forward for it’s return. I thought it would come back fall.. and now I find out it’s cancelled and letting us wonder how the story develops and ends. This is ridiculous… plain old term ‘sucks.’ Why would any network start a new show and not see it through.. at least for the viewers sake put out Season 3 on DVD or better finish what you started.
Loved V, very sad that it was cancelled. I thought it was a great show.
