Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

i really think that sucks not continuing with season 3,me and my wife really enjoyed it,it was like watching the original V way back when we were kids, damn on u 4 cancelling s3…bloody sad.
If ABC doesn’t bring back “V” I will literally.. (let me repeat that again), LITERALLY stop watching ABC from now on! I am a HUGE fan of “V”, Watched the old version, but I really liked the reanimated version much more, And it’s just a shame that they had to cancel it, just when the excitement was kicking in HARD.. I am already wondering, Are the resistance group going to use Dr. Parker’s virus, (which they found in S1 E11) against the Vs? Will Joshua risk his life again to help Erica rescue Decker and Lisa? How will she cope… Read more »
ABC should have promoted it better. My family loved it and waited for season 2, but never heard when it was going to start.
Yet again another intriguing series bites the dust. Personally, I think the writers can’t think think past 2 seasons of anything predictable…and this series wasn’t predictable. I will really miss it!
ABC-
;Cancelling V wa prehaps the most inane thing I’ve ever seen. You seem to forget a couple of things 1; We the people who like something different are not the average on the curve. The center of the televison audience bell curve is the average. “Dancing With Stars’ I want to be a millioaire” this is the miasma of the average. Dull, mundane, largely ingnored- blazing gray) Not something that that challenges or stimulates the imagination. Certainlty not out standing enough for any award.
Are you kidding? it was dropped because it rose to the top of the slop reality tv craze and it drew the inteligent viewer. wow- i was taught in business school that one intelligent viewer was worth a million drones….get with it ABC! in the long run it is you who looses, try to keep charging the prices you charge for ads when only drones watch your shows. lol, drooling slobs might go out durring commercials and buy chips…maybe you should play chip ads…….Loosers.
Our family really loved this series. I think it was a mistake to cancel this show. Someone is not thinking.
I am absolutely devastated that they won’t air the third series. i wanted to know what happens to Tyler as they were all dying in the last episode. They can’t just let it end like that it is seriously not fair. If they don’t air it at least place it on DVD or online. This is outrages. I am a huge fan of V. Why do they do it to all the good TV shows.
That really sucks. ABC has followed suite with the other network that left us hanging (Heroes). ABC should give a conclusion to the whole matter. At least release a finale to video. ABC if you are reading this, FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED!
Pissed off they would end the show and not announce it. I think they should release season 3 on video.
Was one of my favorite shows. Bummed it had to end like this. 🙁
UNFORTUNATE THEY DROPPED THE BEST SHOW ON TV. SICK AND TIRED OF REALITY SHOWS!
I really like the first two seasons. Very modern version with a lot more mysteries then the original series. I really hope they bring it back.
So is there anyway season 3 would just go straight to video??
ABC, please sell this show to syfy channel so they can give it the proper chance it deserves.
