There was essentially no chance that The Walking Dead would be cancelled any time soon but now, AMC has already renewed the series for an eighth season. Will the ratings rise or fall in season seven? When will AMC decide to end this very popular TV show? It can’t go on forever, can it? Stay tuned.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The supporting cast includes Corey Hawkins, Katelyn Nacon, Jason Douglas, Ann Mahoney, Christine Evangelista, and Steven Ogg. Which actors will be around for season eight?

For comparisons: The sixth season of The Walking Dead averaged a 6.48 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 13.15 million total viewers.
What do you think? Do you still like The Walking Dead TV series on AMC? Do you think it should have been renewed for season eight so soon? Should it ever be cancelled?
TWD has answered its own question – how does mankind react to an impossible situation? The answer is descent into tribal violence. So, now what? Just violence with out the character growth of the 1st several seasons. I will miss it, but I think it’s time for TWD to find a reasonable way let Rick et al find peace.
I think they should find a way to kill Rick. Rick shouldn’t be alive anymore.
it should be cancelled, the plot story just repeats itself over and over merely adding up more gore stuff every time. It moved from an interesting plot about trying to find a cure and building back society to boring fighting all the time with people dying in gore way. Just cancel this garbage already
I agree a 100%. I hope it is cancelled.
I’m pretty late, but they’re somewhat following the comics. Read those and you’ll see that **** gets better. Plus it’s already been said that there is no cure. They end up somewhat later rebuilding a little society. Read the comics, the tell you alot
I fee this show was good for the 1st 5 seasons maybe less but it sucks now and needs to have a new writer or just cancel it! They took away the fantasy of it when they brutally killed Glenn and Abraham!
The people who are voting and commenting are just mad that Glenn died or aren’t even fans of the show. This is the highest rated show on cable with good acting and good writing and plenty of interesting upcoming storylines. It’s common sense that it is going nowhere so deal with it.
Oh please, ever since FTWD came along the writing in the main show is also turning BS. The acting in the main is a million times better though, at least I give them that.
Yeah but Alycia Debnam-Carey. I mean DAMN!…. She alone is worth watching FTWD. Probably one of the hottest actresses I’ve ever seen. Beyond that though even if the acting isn’t top notch in FTWD it still currently has a ton of character development and at times, on the edge of your seat, suspense. This character development and not knowing what is coming next is what made TWD such a great show. To date I think FTWD has actually gained a decent enough development to take the show in a great direction. Hopefully TWD does a 180° turn and fix some… Read more »
While many of us have remained dedicated and loyal since the piolit episode, I feel manipulated and lied to when the Season 6 finale cliffhanger lead us to believe the show was moving to a new direction off script with an entirety different story. What story? All I’ve seen is from comics to tv and now it’s more The Life And Times with The Saviors. Even The Talking Dead has Negan focused for everyone to see. To escape daily routine and stress, this was my weekly get away until the main character reminds us life is too much and evil… Read more »
Talking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead should be cancelled.
I love seeing the ratings plummet. This show was barely watchable in season 6 and finally ‘jumped the shark’ in 7. It used to have a story line and a direction, now the only direction is in the crapper. Bravo AMC, bravo.
Amazing that so many of you want the highest rated show on TV cancelled, yet so many of you want shows with ratings almost near a 0.00 renewed. You know what? Stop watching, you whining little babies, and go watch failing shows on other networks. There are plenty of them, and they are failing for a reason.
I do not agree with you at all. You should remove your fanatic hat to become more objective! I loved TWD. I believe its peak was fourth season and 5th was still great but doubtful (deus ex machina moments everywhere besides plotholes the size of the Grand Canyon). They should make season 6 is a Rick Grimes delusion because of fever (even this clichè is better than what they have delivered lately). And answering about watching other shows: you are losing your time by not risking on something else. There are shows like “The Americans” which are not receiving the… Read more »
It should be cancelled. It was great and went rapidly down hill.
You have to be sick to enjoy watching it now. They went way over the line.
Way over the Line? Breaking Bad never went WAY OVER THE LINE? mad men never went WAY OVER THE LINE? Tell you what? let’s cancel EVERY SHOW WITH WORSE RATINGS than the Walking Dead. What are you watching now?
Its not about the rating, at least not for me. TWD is suffering… I don’t know if the writers have handled the writing to their sons, if they lost track, passion or what has happened. But for sure it is suffering and more and more people would like to see it put to rest. There was a time I was in love of this show but Im watching how it looks more and more they are mocking themselves and the audience. And despite I used to love it, IMHO, you can’t compare gems like Breaking Bad or Mad Men with… Read more »
I’m a little late, but I’m going to say you are wrong. Whatre they supposed to do? Live in the wild everyday? No. People are smart, they create shelters. What they are doing is creating a society for themselves. Read the comics. **** gets better, I promise.
Advice if you are going to watch this show. Don’t watch every episode in the current season, wait til the season finale and watch it all. Love this show 2nd best show behind GOT but most episodes are boring/nothing happens til the last minute of an episode.
I lost interest in season 5 when the group reached Alexandria. I could only watch a few episodes of season 6. The writing was too inconsistent in my eyes so I stopped watching. Characters became unrecognizable. Storylines were dropped and as a viewer there wasn’t much satisfying payoff in my eyes. Paying attention to details became pointless and you would find out more about the characters/arcs by watching The Talking Dead. It became a crutch in a way. A viewer shouldn’t find out on TTD that Tyreese was a professional football player or Sasha was a firefighter. That should of… Read more »
Although having watched every episode previously I was only able to stomach about 5 minutes of the season 7 premiere and haven’t watched it since. It’s lost its humanity and all that’s left is sadistic brutality, no thanks.
It basically became the 2016 election.
Absolutely agree. The humanity is what made the show compelling.

The lower ratings aren’t because of a football game or the fact that people watched 60 minutes and somehow just watched what followed 60 minutes instead of picking up the remote and changing the channel to their favorite show The Walking Dead. The fact of the matter is a fair chunk of fans have stopped watching. Forever. Season six taught a lot of faithful followers that what is portrayed on camera cannot be trusted. And, for me personally, when I saw the season six finale and the brutality that was coming, that was my cue to punch out. Too bad,… Read more »
Then a lot of shows should be cancelled due to brutality….(myopinoin)…..:)
Wow, that’s a sizeable drop. It is still doing fantastically well though but I do have to admit, I have nostalgia for some of the older episodes and characters. There are some great moments in the new season and some not so great, as is with most seasons. I don’t see much point in the spin off sticking around but I’m fine to continue with the main show as long as they actually have a climax for it at some stage and do not drag it out to the point that the plot becomes thin and worn. I’d like to… Read more »
Cancel it. The show lost direction after Season 5 ending up being a joke with Negan in Season 7. I don’t enjoy watching the later episodes. The old stuff was a lot better.
Before you cancel this, you can cancel nine tenths of the crap that is out there for people to see. That includes streaming, Amazon, Netflix, etc. Are you prepared to watch static for the rest of your life? Anything new that is worse than this gets cancelled immediately. That would be practically everything that comes out. I guess you are ready to get a life. No?
You don’t make any sense. Learn some logic please.
i think worthymagic’s comment is perfectly logical– and correct. all new shows get about 2, MAYBE 3 eps chance to prove themselves in ratings, else they’re axed asap. VERY frustrating for me, especially on FOX because several shows i fellin love with went bye bye before they really had a chance to fly. But anymore, the ratings expectation has to be on the same insane high scale that TWD achieves – without really trying — even in declining ratings they’re still doing better than 90% of all other TV shows. so to say it should be cancelled stands to reason… Read more »
Ok, can I add something? No one cares that you have read the comic. The comic would have found an ending years ago if the television show hadn’t invigorated its readership with a large contingent of amaurotic mouth-breathers. The tv show has suffered a drop in quality due to its adherence to the graphic novel’s plot line while ignoring the graphic novel’s relative brevity. The competing mediums are incongruent and demand wildly different approaches.
But the show would be nowhere without the comics, the so…
