TV show description:
On this TV comedy, Dan (Mike O’Malley) and Caroline Yoder (Mary McCormack) think that they’ve finally have it made. Their daughter Molly (Ella Rae Peck), who’s not exactly a diligent student, has managed to graduate from high school and has been accepted to college. Her proud parents are looking forward to having an empty nest and are breathing a heavy sigh of relief.
Molly’s secret boyfriend is Junior Hernandez (Joey Haro). Across town, he’s graduating from his high school with top honors and has plans to go to Stanford. His parents, Miguel (Ricardo Chavira) and Lisette Hernandez (Justina Machado), are bursting with pride and younger brother Demetrio (Fabrizio Guido) is pretty happy too. Everything seems like it’s falling into place for them as well.
Unbeknownst to either family, there’s a big shock coming. Molly and Junior are going to become parents themselves.
After the teens break the big news to their parents, these two very different families are thrown together. It doesn’t exactly go smoothly and the news that Molly and Junior are planning to get married doesn’t exactly make things better.
Fathers Dan and Miguel have the most difficult time adjusting to their new situation (and each other), while moms Caroline and Lisette take a softer approach to getting to know one another.
When each of the parents realizes that the kids are serious about making a life together, the adults exhale and begin to come to terms with this new blended family. It’s going to take understanding, humor, love and patience but it might just work out.
