There won’t be a third season of magic for the ladies of Witches of East End on Lifetime. The cable channel has cancelled the supernatural drama after two seasons on the air.
Witches of East End revolves around the ladies of the Beauchamp family who’ve discovered that they are witches with ancient magical powers. They must defeat unearthly enemies while keeping their abilities a secret from the other townspeople. The cast includes Julia Ormond, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Rachel Boston, Mädchen Amick, Eric Winter, Daniel DiTomasso, and Christian Cooke.
The first season of the series averaged 1.67 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic — good enough to secure a second season renewal. The second season dropped 32% in viewers to 1.13 million and dropped 24% in the demo, falling to a 0.5 rating.
Unfortunately, the second season ended with several unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will share how things would have been resolved at some point.
What do you think? Did you like this Lifetime series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Why was the show cancelled? Lifetime could gave at least made 1 or 2 more episodes instead of leaving us hanging. It is a VERY good show. BRING IT BACK!!!!!
It is a shame to cancel this entertaining and great show. Lifetime didn’t leave it on long enough for viewers to catch on. So many people watch in other ways besides just when the show is airing too. Does the network take that into account? Too bad for Lifetime!
My daughter and I are very sad. We watched this show together! I would love for it to come back even if for a bit to answer all question still lingering!!!
I am very disappointed about this news. This show was great! It drew me in from the very first episode. The same thing was done with The Client List as well. I don’t understand why these shows with fantastic casts & storylines keep getting canceled. I guess we can hope another network will [pick it up. I loved the way it ended last year & was really looking forward to watching it again this season. Very disappointing!
This show was not bad the first season. It was definitely on my playlist. Looked forward to second season. Disappointing. It was OK but even for a show of its genre the story line was lacking. I’m not surprised it failed after season 2
There must be a solution. I am not happy. >:( i think we should just stop watching any Lifetime shows as protest to them cancelling WEE.
I have since this is not the first show this network has cancelled without warning.
I LOVED this show!! Very upset that they are cancelling it, why do they always have a good show about witches (Secret Circle, Eastwick, & this one) and then cancel them!!??
Very annoying!!
I really enjoyed this show about a family of four very strong women and their magic. It was my guilty pleasure. I watched it faithfully, but usually via On Demand a day or two after it aired since that time slot has quite a bit of competition on other channels. Maybe the ratings weren’t as low as you think they were. We’re watching! We’re watching! Just not right then!
It would be wonderful if some other station would pick it up.
I finally caught up with both seasons and I can NOT believe they would just cancel it like that! i’m so pissed! Bring it back!! OR make a movie!
BRING IT BACK!!!
Just recently found out this show was cancelled and I am so mad!! I LOVED IT!!! Lifetime you suck!! All the crapy movies this network releases abnormal FINALLY something worth watching and it’s cancelled after 2 seasons
Maybe the way to go is to have a 2 hour movie that wraps things up.
I did like this show very much. I’m sorry to see it go.
I loved the show and also hope someone else would at least give us a season with an ending.
VERY DISAPPOINTED !!! I LOVED THIS SHOW !!! THE NETWORKS ALWAYS TAKE THE GOOD SHOWS AWAY AND LEAVE YOU HANGING.
I was thrilled when this show came out and so sad to see it end. I wish someone else would take a chance and pick it up since Lifetime jerked us all around with hopes of season 3. Not a happy camper.
