Wolf Hall leads the pack. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the BBC series has received the most House of Fraser British Academy Television Awards (BAFTA) nominations this year. The nominations were released today.
The historical series premiered in 2015 and was broadcast on PBS in the United States.
Based on Hilary Mantel’s novel of the same name, Wolf Hall chronicles the personal and professional life of Thomas Cromwell—the chief minister in the court of England’s King Henry VIII. The series stars Mark Rylance as Cromwell, Damian Lewis as Henry VIII, and Claire Foy as Anne Boleyn.
Both Rylance and Foy have been nominated for leading actor and actress, while Anton Lesser has been nominated for supporting actor and the series has been tapped for the best drama award.
Earlier, we reported that a season two of Wolf Hall is in the works. However, fans may have to wait quite a while for it to hit the small screen.
What do you think? Did you watch Wolf Hall? Do you think it should win best British drama series?
Love this show. It introduced me to the incomparable (Oscar winner) Mark Rylance. Waiting for s2 to start.
An enjoyable show, one that made people think.
This annoucement is a tad late. Mark Rylance won the Bafta and the awards show was last month.
