With October Road and Men in Trees now cancelled, ABC seems to be on a killing spree — not unlike the “Kiss-Me-Not” killer on Women’s Murder Club. With that in mind, it makes sense that Murder Club would be the network’s next casualty.
ABC’s Women’s Murder Club, based on the popular James Patterson books, debuted on October 12, 2007. Viewer and critical reception was mixed. Almost 11 million viewers tuned in for the series premiere but as few as eight million returned for later episodes. More importantly, the TV show’s percentage of the 18-49 demographic dropped as well. The show typically skews older which is essentially a sin in TV ratings.
After the writers strike finished, it looked like Murder Club was done but ABC decided to give it another chance. They fired the show’s executive producers, hired new ones and order three additional episodes to complete the season. The series then returned to primetime after a three month absence. Unfortunately, the numbers didn’t get any better.
The crime drama has now been officially cancelled but, fortunately for fans, they’ll get to see all of the produced episodes. Episode 13, titled “Never Tell”, is scheduled to air tomorrow night. Will the “Kiss-Me-Not” killer be brought to justice by the time the series ends? Stay tuned!
WMC should try to be remade on cable channel or streaming service, Netflix, Hulu, Prime or even Apple! Harmon and her co actors are available!
I love all of James Patterson’s novel’s and his movies he’s done as well as WMC was very upset that ABC canceled the episodes now his TV show zoo is on CBS maybe he should try WMC on CBS or Fox I’m beginning not to like ABC for canceling excellent TV shows and screw there TV ratings on numbers of people that watched the show.
This is an AWESOME tv Series and PLEASE bring it back, you left us hanging and I am very eager to see what happens next… I hate it when you cancel shows that are so excellent and then put on garbage shows. I LOVE this show!
Bring it back. Love it
I just watched all of the episodes in like two days. I didn’t even know this show existed. I love crime scene shows like this… csi’s, ncis, law and orders. They should definitely bring this back to ABC. I have even read all the book and i’m waiting impatiently for the next book to be published.
Still miss this but at least it introduced me to a great book series. I’ve read all ten now. Ready for 11 and to see this on DVD.
James Patterson’s books are great–obviously, all his books are Best Sellers because he is a great story teller with very interesting concepts. I was really excited when I saw that ABC started the “Women’s Murder Club” TV show. Unfortunately, I was totally disappointed in the first episode I saw. The production looked like a bunch of young amateures “trying” to be creative. Watching the show was actually annoying……with the constant switching of scene. I truly believe that was the turn off for the viewers…. certainly not the material or acting! The super filming–switching from one scene to another is great… Read more »
Yeah, so what—I am proudly in the over 18-49 years demographic group and enjoy the Women’s Murder Club. My 86 year old MOM and I are James Patterson fans and he just can’t write fast enough for us. We can’t believe that ABC cancelled this show. We DVRed the episodes and keep watching them over and over. It’s no wonder we spend a lot of time watching marathons of every CSI, NCIS, and the Law and Orders. There is nothing on ABC, CBS, or NBC worth our time watching. As for the newer shows only Castle and The Mentalist are… Read more »
I loved this series and I still do. I got all the books to the Women’s Murder Club. I don’t get why ABC cancelled the show. It was great maybe because some people don’t know a great show when they see one. They should of gave it a chance to let it grow. Lindsay Boxer, the character Angie Harmon played started to grow on me at the last episode about the Kiss Me Not killer. I was mad when they cancelled, I was so looking foward for another season. They disappointed many fans when they announced the cancelation.
I have grown to love this series. It takes a while for most characters to “grow” on the viewers
and so much stake is placed on numbers watching and advertising $’s that this fact gets lost.
Women’s Murder Club deserved better from ABC and I believe we did, too.
Angie Harmon, commiserations, you are a dynamic force both in Law & Order, and now WMC. I hope we get the chance to see you again, soon.
I too enjoyed the show. It was nice to see three strong, smart and capable women able to perform their jobs as well as the men on the show.
I am still upset that the Women’s Murder Club was canceled. What a great show!! Why would ABC think that we want to watch shows like Dating in the Dark, Wipeout, Supernanny, etc!? I am still hoping that they will reconsider their decision and bring it back. As it is now, there’s not a whole lot worth watching on ABC!
It was horrible that ABC cancled WMC. I LOVE the books by James Patterson, so naturally, when i heard there was a show based on them, i tuned in… I watched every single episode, WMC replaced FRIENDS as my fave tv show. It is bcs of Lt. Lindsey Boxer that I am determined to become a Lt. in Homocide. ABC needs to get a clue and not cancel great shows…. that really ticked me off. i no longer watch anything on ABC, and won’t until they get WMC back on. they have lost my viewing support forever.
This was a great show. I never read the books, but the WMC definitely caught my attention. Loved the ladies’ characters….I wish someone would decide to bring it back.
i wish other station would pick up WMC cause i loved this show and i want it to be one top rated show so show ABC they did a bad thing not picking up WMC… ABC was wrong to let this show go….
