What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the Freeform cable channel, Young & Hungry stars Emily Osment, Jonathan Sadowski, Aimee Carrero, Kym Whitley, and Rex Lee, with Bryan Safi recurring. The Freeform TV series features food blogger, Gabi Diamond (Osment), who becomes the personal chef of wealthy tech entrepreneur Josh Xander Kaminski (Sadowski). After they develop feelings for one another, the plot thickens. The fifth season kicks off with Gabi and Josh try to prove to everyone that they won’t let feelings get in the way of their new arrangement as “friends with benefits.”
Season Five Ratings
The fifth season of Young & Hungry averaged a 0.17 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 352,000 viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 36% and down by 35%, respectively. Learn how Young & Hungry stacks up against the other Freeform TV shows.
As of February 6, 2018, Young & Hungry was cancelled and the finale aired July 25, 2018. A movie was supposedly in development but those plans were cancelled too. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
While Young & Hungry was originally given a season orders of 10 episodes, eventually, Freeform doubled the total order to 20. A couple of weeks before that, the cable channel decided not to move forward with the proposed spin-off. Were the two decisions related? Although the fourth season ratings saw a small increase over the previous year, will the sitcom continue to build its audience? The ratings are way down but Freeform has cancelled Baby Daddy so, that may mean the network will want to keep this show around for a sixth season. We’ll see. PLEASE DONT CANCEL YOUNG AND HUNGRY I LOVE THIS SHOW AND HAVE WATCHED IT FROM THE BEGINNING MORE THAN ONCE. I HAVE TO KJOW WHAT HAPPENS TO GABI AND JOSH. I JUST YELLED AT THE TV FOR 10 MINUTES SAYING IT CANT END LIKE THAT. I NEED TO KNOW IF HE SAYS YES OR NOT.
Why would you cancel not knowing what has happened to gabby and josh as she proposed.
If not another series at least a movie.

Where the heck do they get these ratings from? Because real people (probabaly all the ones they didn’t poll) like this show. It has some of the wittiest and funny one liners that I’ve ever heard in a tv show. They should at minimum renew for a final season 6 to wrap up the story line. I think it’s BS when networks end series without even plot line end. Atleast make a crappy Dexter type ending so we can talk about something, geez. Lol

I agree please don’t cancel young and hungry….love this show! It puts a smile on my face and makes me laugh which is good for ones body and mind. Please please renew the show and keep it going on and on and on…..

They should truly bring the show back! I didn’t even know that they canceled it. I’ve been waiting for a next to that wonderful plot twist of an ending to season five. I’ve always rooted for this I wanna see where it goes! It’s ridiculous that you guys canceled the sixth season & a planned movie! I would have bought both! Start a petition to bring Young & Hungry back!
I think they should go ahead with the sixth season there are people like me who love that show I wanted to see more. Its like a book your not gonna stop selling it just bc a few people are buying, are you? No you keep selling bc those few people matter too you know

I just started watching this show a couple weeks ago waiting for another season I didn’t know it was already cancelled bring it back my son even likes the theme music

I think that they should bring back the sitcom young and hungry I’m a big fan of the show I have watched all 5 seasons and I was upset and sad that they cancelled the show and I would love to see the show renewed
I would really love a season 6 & for the show to be continued. This show is really funny & I like the chemistry with the cast. I was watching this show before Baby Daddy even got cancelled. I think you need to keep the show & start a movie with the Exact Same Cast Members!!
They really need to bring back Young and Hungry and make a 6th season because I really would like to know if they get married and if she says yes this is not okay I think this is even better than most TV shows I like the show better than I liked Orange is the New Black or even the Sons of Anarchy I didn’t get into any of those damn shows and the one I actually get into they don’t have a 6th season this is b*******
