The Walking Dead on AMC is insanely popular and was the highest-rated show on television last season in the 18-49 demographic. How will Syfy’s Z Nation perform? Will it be a killer success in the ratings and be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
A horror TV show, Z Nation begins three years after a zombie virus has gutted the United States. A ragtag band of everyday people must work together to transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California to the last functioning viral lab. The cast includes Harold Perrineau, Tom Everett Scott, DJ Qualls, Kellita Smith, Michael Welch, Anastasia Baranova, Russell Hodgkinson, Pisay Pao, Nat Zang, and Keith Allan.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
10/20 update: Z Nation has been renewed for a second season on Syfy.
Final season averages: 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.42 million total viewers.

What do you think? Do you like the Z Nation TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a second season?
also i agree with you Michael Newton at least say why you dont like it, and i loved the baby one that was funny, and thank you to scifi channel for taking this and i dont know why you say the channel is rubbish ,but i also agree with you Kimburly about the shows i am the same i dread getting into new shows now in case they get axed, but good to see z nation has been renewed so thats great news .
omg they have to renew this fantastic show, i love it its brilliant just as good as walking dead ,they are both great shows, z nation has funny bits in it and i think thats what makes it great not just serious all the time, but saying that its great action and horror as well as tense moments sad moments and they kill off main characters as well , its a great show so i hope they do see that and renew it, i am sick of starting to get into shows that are good then find out its been… Read more »
I just Love Z Nation! Citizen Z is awesome. Keep up the great show.
I feel that Z nation is starting to hit it’s stride as to story telling. I enjoyed the firemen/lost husband episode and thought the mortuary episode might have been the best yet. I continue to be surprised by the Murphy character and what he has become capable of. Agreed with the other poster that WD is more about humans killing humans, with the zombies as background distractions. ( the book is much the same ). I like Z Nation as a zombie kill diversion. I like most of the actors and the zombies are not badly represented. I do not… Read more »
Is there a difference between eating people as food or eating the food of people that you let zombies kill?
I agree with magusat999. I keep watching and almost every show gets cancelled. I couldn’t believe it when Harold got killed (although he is now in NBC’s Constantine, so perhaps that was his choice. I can’t find any comments from Tom as to why he left Z Nation…). I keep telling myself to not even watch any new shows because they will probably get cancelled, but I don’t. I keep watching and suffering the inevitable outcome. I like Z Nation though. Yeah, it’s corny, but it’s supposed to be. Syfy’s repeated behaviour is just when you start to get into… Read more »
It didn’t get cancelled it actually got renewed for a second season.
ZNation, is a breath of fresh air especially after that terrible Brad Pitt zombie movie, World War Z, which many people think that ZN was based on!
First of all, I am a fan of both shows… The Walking Dead and ZNation and always look forward to watching another season. Were as the WD uses drama more ZN uses black humour (eg. the baby). Sometimes even the storylines of both shows can become surprisingly similar (eg. cannibalism and race to get some guy to meet some other official person so they can save mankind) but I don’t mind as they do it all in a very dissimilar way! As the walking dead eventually dies out the majority will look to the likes of ZNation for their TV… Read more »
I’m loving Z Nation, and particularly the effects work done by Asylum (SyFy partnering with Asylum is a match made in fanboy heaven). I am thrilled that the show has been renewed. Along with “Helix” and the “Sharkando” franchise, SyFy has made itself relevant again in much the same way it was during Ronald D. Moore’s reign with “Battlestar Galactica”. Thank you, SyFy!
All my best,
Andy
Z nation has grown on me. I like the funny story lines but it does solve my zombie withdrawl
Z Nation has grown on us as we have gotten to know more about the characters and appreciate the humor the writers have thrown into the shows here and there. The Zombie special effects and makeup, of course, don’t compare to WD, however, they are really pretty good for SYFY channel productions.
I hope SYFY will keep Z Nation on the air! This show WILL find its audience with a little time.
The show should not be canceled, the last 3 episodes kept me on the edge of my seat, made me laugh (firefighters) and brought a tear to my eyes. There is nothing wrong with a little camp. Z is not walking dead, no comparison, but it’s not trying to be , it’s like trying to compare heavy metal and reggae music. Z nation has hit it’s stride and intrigued me with wherever it might possibly be headed . Keep Z nation going.
This is a ****! Love cheesy bad movies but could hardly sit through two episodes of Z Nation. Difference between watching schlock movies and this is, the bad movies are entertaining and funny because they only last two hours but watching this debacle for a season is like sitting through a 10-13 hour long B movie. I’m two and done!
It’s not in any way trying to be another Walking Dead. It is a completely different animal and if there can be 73 cop and lawyer shows on TV, there’s certainly room for a few more zombie shows! Z Nation has a lot of humor and, as has been evidenced recently, a LOT of heart as well. It’s getting better and better with each episode! Its not the show that should be cancelled, its the Syfy directors, writers who are responsible for destroying so many hopeful show concepts. I have been watching Syfy from the day it appeared on TV, and the shows they create all have the same issue – bad execution. The handwriting was on the wall for Z Nation whrn they killed the best actor they had on the first show (who just so happened to be the only Black guy too… hmmm, that was typical). It isn’t Z Nation thats the problem – its Syfy…
