As you may have already heard, Zero Hour has been cancelled by ABC after only three episodes. The news doesn’t come as a surprise as the debut represented ABC’s worst scripted premiere in the history of their regular seasons. The numbers for episodes two and three were even worse.
Still, there were at least five million or so people who made a point of watching Zero Hour each week. They’re understandably upset about the cancellation news — as are members of the cast.
Addison Timlin (Rachel): “The end of zerohour brings me great sadness, but every ending is a new beginning and that is always laced with hope. Thank you all, truly.” “What to the world was just 3 episodes was a whole year for us. Truly an honor to know, work with and love you, to everyone on the team. Xo”
Jacinda Barrett (Laila): agreed with Timlin’s second statement and added, “couldn’t have said it better. Xxxx”
Carmen Ejogo (Beck): “In a NY minute everything can change In a NY minute things can get a little strange” “#nomorezerohour I guess that means I can start watching American Idol again. #alwayslookonthebrightsideoflife” “I believe process is often more important than outcome. I had the BEST time making @ZeroHour_ABC with everyone all year, so #noregretsbaby”
Scott Michael Foster (Aaron): “I absolutely loved #ZeroHour and everyone who worked on it. Will miss filming one of the coolest and enjoyable shows I’ve been on.” “To all my wonderful twitter followers, you make the hard part of this job so much easier with your kind words and support. Thank you.”
What do you think? What was your reaction to Zero Hour being cancelled? What did you think of the work of the show’s cast and crew?
To ABC: This was your only show I watched and looked forward to…and tuned into 2nd show, after friend told me to watch. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Will not watch housewife switch. You had a good thing going and you’ve blown it.
To cast: Beautiful acting!
To writers: Wonderful imagination that kept my attention all the way through!
To Director/Producers: Bravo on your foresight! It was not done justice by ABC!
Just like our Politicians….DUMB!
I thought the acting could have been better, but the premise of the show had some real thought behind it. Part Nazi nasties and some part DaVinci Code. Sorry…and I hate not knowing how things end. I like an interesting show and writing and this had both. Dumbing down of America is no joke. If its not a stupid reality show they won’t watch it. Argggh.
ABC is crazy they take anything good and try to kill it. Give a show a chance after two complete seasons if there is no change can it. You can’t say how well a show will react after 3 episodes. Honestly some shows don’t make sense till they have been on for 7-10 episodes. You don’t get a small leak and say the boat is lost you fix it and move forward.
I really hate that. Time an intellegent drama comes along and its get cancelled. Not good….
Great show. Loved the premise. Just goes to show that the networks only want reality shows. A previous comment said it best, “dumbing down america”.
This show actually showed imagination. Maybe another network like SyFy or someone will pick it up.
This was close to one of the smartest shows on TV. That’s why it got cancelled. Continuing in the dumbing down of America.
I loved that show and the American public did not like it because it had a plot and made you think. It would have made it if it was Reality tv.
SERIOUSLY??? This is one of the best new shows in YEARS! I loved every minute of it! I’ll be sad not to see how it all ends…
not convinced…poor plot and lame acting
Ditto to all, I liked this show and all the intrigue and problem solving ! If you have no vision and don’t want to give a show a chance, just cancel the whole season after every show gives out (3) episodes and someone in a chair or studio gives the thumbs down. We get that all the time from our house and senate leaders at large !
Well, ABC has done it again. The only programs I watch on this poor excuse for a network is Castle and Revenge. Hopefully, one of the cable stations will pick up this show. Apparently, there are a few of us out in TV Land who are not “sheeple”….we enjoy the opportunity to view a “thinking” program. Revenge keeps me on my toes with the plot twists. Castle is adept at combining thinking and humor. Perhaps ABC should take a lesson from CBS……just sayin’
I absolutely loved this show! I can’t understand why it was cancelled due to low ratings as the network made the decision to put it against Big Bang Theory. I would think that the executives would allow it to gain some traction – but to pull it after 3 episodes defeats that purpose. Why not just ramp-up the marketing campaign, advertise on Sci-Fi, build excitement/mystery/suspense/fear around the whole “end-of-days” plot. In today’s market, it is simply easier for them to substitute in a bad reality show. Shame on ABC.
I too would like to know where they get these rating. My wife and I both liked this show. One thing I liked best was the availability of it on Hulu. That way I could watch at my convenience. Please reconsider your decision!!
Good premise but they didn’t draw the audience in far enough in the first episode to understand all that was happening. There should have been a better background as to what Edwards does and why he was involved in all of this. Even a story about the supposed history of these clocks and apostles and how it could be true and then begin the mystery. Good show just wasn’t developed enough. THink about the opening of a Bond film and then think about the opening of this story.
Hopefully someone picks this show up….I hate not knowing endings and how do you judge a show up against American Idol (Awful the last few seasons, but captures millions of people) and Big Bang Theory (Established audience not changing the channel) and expect it to succeed. Maybe an off season start to this show? Run it over the summer so there is something new on that can attract new audiences? Come on USA, grab this one!!!
This was a great show that didn’t get enough time. Makes you wonder what the networks are thinking. They will probably put some dumb reality show in its place.
Seems people want shows that don’t require any thinking.
