CSI: NY: Has the CBS TV Series Been Cancelled?

CSI NY canceled? We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.

It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.

At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”

TV show supportIt’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.

What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

CSI New York is great. Get rid of Golden boy. If CBS drops CSI New York as well as CSI they are going to loose viewers. I don’t think they can afford to drop in the ratings when it comes to programing.

You blew it when you removed the best CSI – CSI: Miami. Now you want to take the second best one off. We am assuming that you are including the NCIS series. NCIS is our favorite now (Miami was my favorite). Now you want to completely ruin your programming. You could have removed the first CSI along time ago and we would not have missed it. The only thing that you have put on your lineup that is equal to the CSI (NCSI) series is Blue Blood. I have watched more of ABC this year than I ever have. NBC completely lost my interest when all of the Law and Order’s were taken off. You need to wise up and leave some more of the CSI – NCSI on. You need to reconsider putting CSI: Miami back on.

Great two-horse parlay with CSI/NY and Blue Bloods back to back on Friday nights. Thanks for asking. Hope CSI/NY will be back.

CSI: NY is great and have been watching since the begininng, as well as CSI: Crime Scene. Ted Danson and Elizabeth Shue were brilliant choices to fill in the empty slots. CSI: Miami had to go. Horatio hadn’t changed his shirt in three years and what crime is sloved in one day?? Please try and find something other than crime dramas. Was not impressed with Golden Boy or Jersey Girl at all. Blue Bloods, however, is fantastic. What ever happened to Miami Medical??? Or bring something in that is more reminisent of The Waltons or Little House??? We have enough crime in our daily lives as it is.

I do not believe you should cancel CSI New York.. I look forward to watching it and CSI Crime Scene Investigation. However I am very upset that you canceled CSI Miami. That was so wrong. All three shows are excellent

CSI NY is great!! Miss CSI MIAMI> did not need to cancel that/ CSI VEGAS went south after Grissom left. Could be right back on top if he should return. Never liked VEGAS nor ELEMENTARY. They are dreaming if they keep advertising as best new show. Golden boy is no good either. Person of Interest and Criminal Minds are on top of heap, along with Blue Bloods and Hawaii 5-0. They never gave Made in Jersey a change. It was really a cute show.
