TV show description:
A very popular nighttime soap opera that follows the wealthy Ewing family of Dallas, Texas.

The family’s oil business is run primarily by the sons of tough patriarch John Ross “Jock” (Jim Davis) – the immoral John Ross “J.R.” (Larry Hagman) and moral Robert “Bobby” (Patrick Duffy). Daddy Jock is married to strong matriarch Eleanor “Miss Ellie” (Barbara Bel Geddes) while son J.R. is married to a former Miss Texas, the long-suffering Sue Ellen (Linda Gray).

In true Romeo and Juliet fashion, son Bobby falls in love with and marries Pamela Barnes (Victoria Principal), sister to the Ewing’s biggest competitor, Cliff Barnes (Ken Kercheval).

Other characters include granddaughter Lucy (Charlene Tilton), Southfork Ranch foreman and Jock’s illegitimate son Ray Krebbs (Steve Kanaly), Ray’s wife Donna Culver (Susan Howard), and Miss Ellie’s second husband Clayton Farlow (Howard Keel).

At the end of the 1986-87 season, after learning she could finally conceive a baby, Pam hit an oil tanker with her car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVUs84R1bAc That was Victoria Principal’s exit from the series and for her, the character died. In the series, Pam survived but was severely burned all over her body. She needs to get away so she divorces Bobby (again) and leaves him, Christopher, and Dallas. Thanks to plastic surgery, she briefly returned (now looking like actress Margaret Michaels). She told Cliff that she was in love with her doctor and had plans to marry him. After he leaves, we learn that she’s terminally ill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzGnv6ls_dE That’s the last time she appeared on the original series and Bobby never knew what happened to her — until the new series.

Does anyone know the name of the song played at the end of the season finale. Had the words “Run on Down” in it as well as “Sooner or later they’re gonna cut you down” ?

Thanks!

Apparently VP was going to appear in the final episode in 1991, if it was guaranteed it was the final final ever episode of the series, but Katzman couldn’t, so she didn’t appear. The writing was on the wall, so they cancelled it on the very last scene. Anyway’s Victoria Principal would have only been part of JR’s fantasy if he never existed, but still it would have been great to see her seeing as Linda Grey, Steve Kanaly, Mary Crosby, Ted Shackleford and Joan Van Ark made guest comebacks.
