Longmire: TV Series Renewed for Season Two

season two renewal for LongmireTo no surprise, A&E is renewing their new Longmire TV series for a second season. There’s no word yet on how many episodes have been ordered for round two or when they’ll debut.

Airing on Sunday nights, Longmire revolves around a Wyoming sheriff who’s trying to rebuild his life while maintaining order in his town and trying to keep his job. The cast includes Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bailey Chase, Adam Bartley, and Cassidy Freeman.

The TV series debuted on June 3rd with 4.1 million total viewers and became the cable channel’s most-watched scripted debut of all time. Four episodes of Longmire have aired so far this season and have averaged a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.88 million total viewers.

A&E ordered 10 episodes for the first season of the drama series. They’re expected to finish airing on August 5th. We’ll let you know when we know more about season two.

What do you think? Are you glad to hear that Longmire will be back for season two? Do you think this TV show should run for many seasons or just a few?

Longmire is one fantastic show: its fresh entertainment in a world of reality shows. I’m excited to hear that the decision was made to keep it on for another season. On Sunday nights when the new episodes are on I’m at work so out of habit I set the DVR. While discussing the show with a co-worker he suggested trying out the remote access app.

I really like the series. Longmire reminds me of Jesse Stone in terms of values but in a Wyoming setting. Gruff, no nonsense but a real feeling for people

I like the show but have some problems with it. 1. not filming in Wyoming. 2. calling Wyoming “The Big Sky State” we are “The Cowboy State” 3. The Cheyenne Indian reservation is in Montana. The Shoshine Tribe lives on the Wind River Reservation inWyoming. At the least, it would be great if they would get the right tribe and state together or even learn the correct pronounceation of “Absaroka”.

Come on people – have some pride in what you are showing the world.

Come on Jill, technically you are correct on all of the above…however, Craig gets away with calling Buffalo “Durant” in his books, why not let the TV people have a little latitude….it seems you are letting your “pucker” keep you from enjoying what has the potential to develop into a long-running great “western”…….i.e., Gunsmoke was suscessful and long-running and entertaining..how historically accurate do you think that series was(?). ….and, it was filmed in California not Kansas…..go figure!!!

Its all about entertainment, not show-casing your State or the lovely area around Sheridan/Buffalo and the Big Horn Area.

Finally, a new “scripted” series for adults! I applaud A&E for providing something other than so-called “reality” shows, and honoring its long history of excellent programming. I think this show is fabulous from start to finish, from adapting the character from the well-written novels, to the first-rate acting and staging — it truly hits a Wyoming bulls eye. I hope it is around for many more seasons to come.

We fell in love with the show in its premiere episode & have never missed one! Thrilled to hear its been renewed, as it should be. We’re hoping its renewed again & again. For portraying an “Old West” style sheriff, it is surprisingly refreshing TV.

Really love this show. Such a relief from all the big city cop shows. I left a comment on another site about the continually out-of-breath scenes. It’s OK when they’re running, but who is out-of-breath stepping out of a car? Again, love the show!
