Off the Map: Petition and Ways to Support the ABC TV Show

Off the Map TV showThe doctors on Off the Map do their best to save lives under the toughest of conditions. Unfortunately, it’s the ABC TV show may not make it. The ratings aren’t good so it looks very likely that it will be cancelled.

What can you do? Remember, the ideal scenario for ABC is for many millions of people to watch the show on their television sets, while it’s being broadcast. Unfortunately, ratings are put together based on a sampling of viewers. If you’re a “Nielsen household,” your viewing is being counted. If not, it’s not.

However, if you like Off the Map and want to see it continue, there are a few things you can do to help.

  1. If you’re a Nielsen family, watch the show whenever it’s on. If not, watch it on ABC.com or purchase episodes online so your viewing will be directly counted. Encourage others to watch the show. You might know a Nielsen family and not be aware of it.
  1. Talk about the show with others; at school, at work, online, or wherever. Creating a buzz about a show that you’re invested in gets other people interested and might help bring former viewers back.
  1. Sign the petition below and encourage others to do the same.
  1. Write to the network. Be respectful. Everyone responds better to courtesy. Tell them how much you enjoy the show, that you’ve signed the petition, and that you want to see it continue. You can use this form or, even better, write via “snail-mail” to: Mr. Paul Lee, President, ABC, 500 S. Buena Vista Street, Burbank, CA 91521, RE: Off the Map
  1. Call the network at (818) 460-7477 and leave a comment. Be polite and tell them how much you like the show.
  1. Take note of the products that are advertised during the show. Write the advertisers and tell them that you appreciate their sponsoring the show and that you buy their products (if you do).

We, the undersigned, like watching Off the Map on the ABC network. The series has strong characters, great actors and engaging storylines in a unique setting. It’s not a run-of-the-mill show.

Please find a way to keep Off the Map on the air. We are devoted viewers who will continue to watch the program, encourage others to do the same, and will support the series’ advertisers as well. Please keep it going, either on ABC or, if necessary, on another Disney-owned channel.

    I was hooked even when the 1st episode just started! It should get one more chance. I'm sure that it was probably due to many unforeseen circumstances and ratings were probably not well as it didn't premier well.

    I just finished watching Off the Map and i'm totally hooked to it!! It was advertised in one of our local channels here in the Philippines. I loved it right from the start! I ended up cancelling all my duties for the day so I could finished all the episodes! I fell in love with the story and the characters! I found it much more interesting and entertaining than the other medical dramas I've seen. Every story line for each episode is very realistic and unpredictable. I come from the health care work force so I can very much relate to all the scenarios that had been shown in each episode. It was just a joy to watch! The drama showed more promise than anything I've ever seen. I immediately checked the net to see if season 2 is available already. To my dismay, I found out that it was cancelled. I was dumbfounded, I almost cried. It felt like I was reading a very good book and later found out that some pages are missing. When I read an article explaining its cancellation, I couldn't believe it. How could ABC cancel it?? They didn't even have the decency to end it properly. So what if it got the lowest views? Maybe if ABC gave it a better time slot, like maybe when people are still up and doing about their business?? Maybe if ABC had advertised it the way our local channel here did, then maybe people could have had a better idea of what it was about. Now ABC has left us wondering what's going to happen next, and it's the not the best feeling in the world. I fervently hope that someone from ABC reads all this petitions and be bold enough to bring this up in their board meeting or something like that. Please, please, please bring Off the Map back!! Please give us season 2 and all the seasons to come until it comes to an end. I will surely miss this series :( Please don't leave us hanging in the air. Bring back Off the Map!! Please! T.T

    We just finished watching Off the Map on dvd and were left very frustrated by the abrupt ending! Even if ABC cancelled the show, they should have least have made a further episode to give all it's fans a proper feeling of closure! Better still, bring it back on TV and then on dvd so we can watch more.....please...please!

    I am so tired of the networks taking all the good programs off. This was the best I have seen in a long time. I think maybe the problem may have been the scheduling. There are a number of TV series I watch and I can't remember but I think I had to flip back an forth to watch the ones on at the same time. I purchased the DVD series and JUST LOVE IT. BUT would love to see it continue and finish up or put it in a book so I can get to the end. Thanks for you time.

    Cancelling this show, killing off Lexi on Grey's Anatomy, and killing Mike on Desperate Housewives have officially made me give a big middle finger to ABC. The only chance of me watching a show on ABC ever again is if they bring back Off The Map. They can't un-kill characters but they can bring this show back. I'm over this channel, all they do is ruin their own great shows. :(

    I like this SO much better than anything else ABC has to offer this year. I started watching 'Last Resort' but I got sick and tired of all the overblown drama and the unnecessary bloodshed, so I stopped. I can't handle any more ridiculous accidents on 'Grey's Anatomy' and I can't bring myself to care about 'Private Practice' now that all of the characters I found the slightest bit interesting have disappeared. I did see advertisements for this show but they all made it seem like some sort of 'Doctors Without Borders' crossed with 'Spring Break' fiasco. I found this show's advertisements to be entirely misleading....this show is a brilliant and sensitive exploration of what happens when two cultures clash, with the members of each culture desperately trying to relate to one another respectfully yet unintentionally getting it wrong most of the time. I thought it was VERY relevant, and in fact necessary as a contribution to current discourse on cross-cultural relations. If anything, I would submit that this show was more cutting-edge than anything else presented on ABC and for that reason, the producers of the show combined with the studio heads got nervous and misadvertised the show then cancelled it rather than acknowledge and ameliorate y'all's mistakes. Prove me wrong on that count, would you? This show deserves better than the shot it got. More to the point-y'all deserve better than to be the joke network that offers light entertainment to viewers looking for something so either boringly predictable or completely unrealistic [as 'Grey's' has become recently, for example] that it requires no more than a minute amount of their attention? Don't y'all WANT to be taken seriously again? Why not try looking at this show as a replacement for 'Scrubs' rather than for 'Private Practice' i.e. for a show that was cutting-edge, intriguing, brilliantly written and didn't back down from facing life's not-always-happy-endings with grace and a fervent passion for finding the beauty and joy even in the most difficult tests of one's faith? Because that show, even I could get behind; that show would make me want to keep watching and I would wager against the most spiritually hardened network executive that THAT show would finish top of the Pack, every time out at the races.

    I loved this show I loved the scenery it was breath taking, the characters where so lovable and the story line to all the episodes where great, please make a second season...I am going to die of wonder if I don't get to know if Fuller and Mina hook up, if Mateo dies or not, If Ryan gets a heart after all...PLEASE BRING US A SECOND SEASON!!!!
