Patrick Wilson and company won’t be back for a second season. CBS has cancelled A Gifted Man, their low-rated Friday night drama.
Revolving around a talented but arrogant doctor who’s visited by the ghost of his ex-wife, A Gifted Man ran for 16 episodes on CBS. The show features the talents of Wilson, Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The TV series got off to an unimpressive start back in September, registering a 1.4 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. In week two, the demo fell 14%, to a 1.2 rating.

The numbers for later episodes fluctuated up and down — even occasionally outperforming the series premiere — but were never very strong. For the show’s final few episodes, CBS moved it into the 9pm timeslot but it didn’t do as well as previous timeslot occupant CSI: NY.
The last episode of the season (and series aired) on March 2nd and was Gifted Man’s best overall series performance, registering a 1.5 in the demo with 9.70 million total viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relaive success of shows on the network, A Gifted Man had a “D-” rating right from the start.
In Gifted Man’s former timeslot, CBS tried airing episodes of reality series Undercover Boss. It performed significantly better and cost much less to produce. Gifted Man’s fate had been sealed.

I found this series on Amazon and absolutely loved it. I am so disapointed that there is no Season 2. Loved all the actors/characters. Someone please bring it back!
I just recently watched this show on netflix and i loved it! it is so much more real than all the crap that is on tv today. I was so saddened to see that there is not going to be any more. i would love to see a season 2!!
The series is currently being aired in the UK, I don’t know if it’s the first time on our screens but I happened to find it right at the start and have watched every episode thus far. Disappointed to learn though, that the last two episodes will be broadcast next Sunday. Such a breath of fresh air – usually all we get are cops and robbers or whodunnits – this makes a total change and there’s always a good storyline. The writing was unique weekly and never a dull moment. The whole crew rocks.
I think gifted man should be brought back. There isn’t many good series on today and gifted man is a brilliant show.
I am gutted that there isn’t going to be a series 2 and hope that the producers reconsider.

Absolutely one of the “smartest” TV dramas I have ever spent my “valuable time” watching.
Very disappointed that there will not be a season 2, or 3 or even 4!

I love this show from the very beginning . It was not advertised I just random picked to watch . Why other shows not worth watching are advertised but great ,family frendly , brilliant actors ,intelligent ,sharp mind characters show Is not advertised .

Hola….lamento mucho que no va a seguir la serie de A gifted man….a mi me encanto…..y la hubiese seguido hasta el final …….es una pena q se acabe así sin final alguno…el argumento de la serie esta muy bn hay muchas personas en el mundo q tienen q ser mas solidarias y q tengan mas corazon es lo q hace falta para un mundo mejor y la parte espiritual esta bn también …yo no es q crea en los espíritus pero si creo en lo paranormal.. The whole “feel” of the show is great. The cast are excellent. The late ex-wife that, sort of, haunts the neurosurgeon never really shakes up his atheist perspective, which I find interesting. Also the two sides of the Health system are questioned, which, in turn, may be the reason for the series’ lack of success. Well done Demme!
LOVED THIS SHOW.. It was a good clean family show that dealt with everyday issues people have; all while adding the spirit realm. Just saw this on Hulu for the 1st time. Bring this show back on the air to a different day and time slot. Also do more advertising, this was the first I heard about the show.
I watched every episode. They may bring the show back of they can add some twisted political statement to the story line.
What a shame. I watched all episodes and really got hooked. Very well written and takes time to explore each character’s personality. At least CBS could have given us a grand finale for the season2.
