Patrick Wilson and company won’t be back for a second season. CBS has cancelled A Gifted Man, their low-rated Friday night drama.
Revolving around a talented but arrogant doctor who’s visited by the ghost of his ex-wife, A Gifted Man ran for 16 episodes on CBS. The show features the talents of Wilson, Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The TV series got off to an unimpressive start back in September, registering a 1.4 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. In week two, the demo fell 14%, to a 1.2 rating.

The numbers for later episodes fluctuated up and down — even occasionally outperforming the series premiere — but were never very strong. For the show’s final few episodes, CBS moved it into the 9pm timeslot but it didn’t do as well as previous timeslot occupant CSI: NY.
The last episode of the season (and series aired) on March 2nd and was Gifted Man’s best overall series performance, registering a 1.5 in the demo with 9.70 million total viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relaive success of shows on the network, A Gifted Man had a “D-” rating right from the start.
In Gifted Man’s former timeslot, CBS tried airing episodes of reality series Undercover Boss. It performed significantly better and cost much less to produce. Gifted Man’s fate had been sealed.

Netflix should buy the copyrights and bring this show back . What was CBS thinking they didn’t give it enough time never heard of the show until Netflix.

OMG Somebody needs to wake up —— this show is more reality than life itself ———-What a down to earth, wake up for all of us needing to realize how we are all connected and need each other.
People do not watch because they do no truly know about this exceptional show. Somebody revive this show and make a season 2,3,4 etc happen.
So true. Whimsy, a little fantasy, but much more real than so-called reality TV. Very well produced. Ratings are often a mystery to me.

Please bring back A Gifted Man. My Husband and I found the season 1 on Netflix last night. We watched all 16 episodes. PLEASE bring back this wonderful series.
My wife and I found this series on Netflix recently. We both agreed,it was the best series we have ever seen, and we were extremely disappointed that it was canceled. Unbelievable! This program has humor, intelligence, and compassion. The acting was great! The stories were though-provoking. I cannot believe I am just finding out about this program and it has been canceled.

I found the series whenever I was going through rough time, and honestly it was a real pick me up and I was looking forward to much more to come. I was very sad to see that there’s no more. After watching the whole series in two days, I feel almost crushed that it is done. I truly wish there was more.

It is such a disappointment when you don’t finish sth interesting you started. I accidentally watched an ep. At 3 pm on tv and stuck to the show. Maybe your advertisment policies need some work? People really liked it! Get it back!
It did not catch on for the same reason that many excellent series don;t….our current era is populated with emotionally immature, shallow people who only seem to find loud, arrogant superheroes who blast their way through walls and other dimensions entertaining. OR, inane vulgar “comedy”
Just today i completed watching season 1, The only positive series i had watched so far. I fall in love with Patrick & Rachelle… I will miss them…
I cannot understand why this show was cancelled. Excellent story line, amazing actors and actresses. Give it another go please, please, please.
fantastic program just watched the last one here in the uk you people at CBS need to pull your fingers out and make more shows. I’m gutted it has finished.
It’s the best drama on tv and some one disided it was not good enough well you don’t know good thing when you see it.
Please bring back this great show, I loved it. 🙁
