Patrick Wilson and company won’t be back for a second season. CBS has cancelled A Gifted Man, their low-rated Friday night drama.
Revolving around a talented but arrogant doctor who’s visited by the ghost of his ex-wife, A Gifted Man ran for 16 episodes on CBS. The show features the talents of Wilson, Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The TV series got off to an unimpressive start back in September, registering a 1.4 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. In week two, the demo fell 14%, to a 1.2 rating.

The numbers for later episodes fluctuated up and down — even occasionally outperforming the series premiere — but were never very strong. For the show’s final few episodes, CBS moved it into the 9pm timeslot but it didn’t do as well as previous timeslot occupant CSI: NY.
The last episode of the season (and series aired) on March 2nd and was Gifted Man’s best overall series performance, registering a 1.5 in the demo with 9.70 million total viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relaive success of shows on the network, A Gifted Man had a “D-” rating right from the start.
In Gifted Man’s former timeslot, CBS tried airing episodes of reality series Undercover Boss. It performed significantly better and cost much less to produce. Gifted Man’s fate had been sealed.

I am a Doctor and have thoroughly enjoyed this show. It is such a feel good series that I can watch with my 12 year daughter. So tastefully done. I am so so dissapointed that there will be no follow on. The interaction with patients and respect for human life and care shown is so refreshing. Thank you for a great season 1. Please give us more!
Can’t believe this show was cancelled???!!! Excellent acting and episodes that had some real depth to them – as well as intrigue and constant suspense. As other viewers have said, so many stupid sitcoms continue, when a great one like this is cancelled. I KNOW it will catch on if it’s revived. I’m sure a lot of people just haven’t seen it yet. PLEASE bring it back!!!
Rarely interested in what is on tv, but totally enjoyed the show, “A Gifted Man”. Enjoyed the stories, the choice of actors and the acting! So very disappointed when not able to find a Season 2…..3, etc. Sure hope the show comes back! Please bring it back.
No season two for what reason? How stupid. Don’t you know it can take awhile to find shows this great? There are many others that came first. Make a season 2 3 4 5 6 and a 7!

I love this show. I watched Season 1 on Amazon. I hope they will have at least one more Season. Season 1 ended with no closure.
Yes…. I just watched it on Amazon and I’m bummed just one season. I remember it being on and watching some episodes but life kind of gets in the way when you have kids. No closure

We just happened on to this show on Amazon. Watched all of season 1 and were looking forward to a new season. We would definitely have been watching it on CBS if we had known it was on. Never even heard of it before we stumbled on it. Obviously CBS should have promoted it more…very disappointed!
I am so disappointed and pissed off! It is now 2018 and I just finished what I thought was the first season of several of “The Gifted Man” on Amazon Prime only to find out it was cancelled back in 2012!!! What jackasses decided that? I am a nurse and was so enthralled that I binge watched the whole season and was so looking forward to the next season!!! Why oh why did they cancel such an excellent show?! I loved every episode which left me looking forward to the next. I was gutted to find out that there will be no more! Very disappointed. Please bring it back! I am in withdrawal!
It’s truly sad it got cancelled.. i wish it comes back.. want to watch the wonderful series and superb cast
