This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.

I think that they should leave the show on…Maybe they could move it to Saturday night when nothing is on…I find the show to be quite interesting…and one of the few that I can watch with my daughter…I would hate to think that it was just gone forever…

I really enjoy “A Gifted Man” and would be very disappointed if it were cancelled. I wish you would consider dropping “Two and a Half Men” and “Two Broke Girls”! They are both rather TRASHY programming! Please return “A Gifted Man” to the CBS line-up now that there is nothing but re-runs!
Never have fine this before ..but I thought the show was great
I’m so disappointed that A Gifted Man would be cancelled. With all the drivel on TV these days, this was a real bright spot. Great writing, very interesting characters, excellent acting. It should be renewed, or picked up by another network. I think the Friday night time slot didn’t help, though I recorded every episode. Please reconsider.
Forgot to mention, TV today is mostly crap. I’m at the point of cancelling all my programming and going back to reading good books.
I really liked the show. That make 4 out of 5 of my favorite shows gone. It’s not fair.
Its a shame I look forward to this show on Friday nights. I think Friday night is a difficult night for any show. Wish they would renew
And once again a sophisticated show with good writing and casting goes by the wayside. I thoroughly enjoyed the series and shuddered when the always lame Undercover Boss took its place! Sucko city! As my father once voiced his dissatisfaction in such circumstances, “All your taste is in your mouth!”
