This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see A Gifted Man leave the schedule? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a bigger audience?

It will be sad if this show is cancelled. It is a great mix of accurate medical situations and interesting characters that appeals to an intelligent audience. I guess that’s the problem with this show….not enough crass language, sexual situations, or gore to appeal to the rest of America.
My wife and I enjoyed the show together very much. It’s a great family entertainment show and we hope that CBS can figue out maybe a new time or date. Please try and bring it back.
Change the day and time… It is a great show – great peeps — Give it a chance
I love A Gifted Man. It was my favorite show of all Please bring it back.
Love this show. Please do not cancel. There isn’t much on TV worth watching these days. How many reality shows can one watch?
The show is great. I’ve turned people on to the show by explaining what it is really like. The commercials concentrate on the ghost wife thing which is good but not what it is all about.
I agree with most of the blogs. It just seems that all of the “good” ones get the ax. Why? Probably not enough sex, murder, rape, filthy language, etc.
I loved the show. It seems all good shows are cancelled.
I love this show The Gifted Man !!!!! As alway’s u guy’s take shows off that actually touch people’s lives and put garbage shows on….like do we need anymore reallity shows????? I only have just so many shows I do watch the way it is…..PLEASE KEEP THE GIFTED MAN!!!!!
With all the reality-type dramas on Friday nights, I enjoyed coming home from work and seeing this drama at 7pm my time. I’ve been missing it and wondered where it went. It’s refreshing. Really, how many CSIs and NCISs do we really need???
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!! please do not cancel it,,, it is really the best thing to watch on tv, i would rather see this than one of those stupid comedy series where real stuff never happens and if it does they make fun of it. A Gifted Man has good stories to improve your life and kind people in it. It is one of a kind and needs to stay on.
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE
I love the show. It was the only show on Friday nights I looked forward to on TV. I believe the only reason it did not draw a larger audience because it falls into the category of “adult television.” This type of programming is hard to find on television these days. No excessive violence, sex or profanity which is about the only thing that sells programs in the 18-49 demographic. I have been disappointed in CBS ever since it cancelled “Moonlight”, and considering the interest in the vampire genre today was also a big mistake. It took a lot for… Read more »
Pls don’t cancel. I looked forward to it every fri
I love this show. Smart, funny, serious, medical, shamanic, great plots and cast, and one of the few shows I really like. Give this show a chance to build more audience!!! I think it just needs more time…half the time they played repeats for awhile there and viewers didn’t get to see the plot progression. This is a winner, but you have to give it a chance to build a following with a real season!
Great show; interesting plot and really good cast. There is little else on television worth watching, BRING IT BACK! Thank you.
