Lifetime has decided that neither of its freshman dramas are worthy of a second season. The cable channel cancelled The Protector in September and they’ve now canned Against the Wall as well.
Against the Wall stars Rachael Carpani as Abby Kowalski, a single cop who joins the Chicago department’s internal affairs division. The series’ co-stars include Andrew Walker, Brandon Quinn, Chris Johnson, Daniel Kash, James Thomas, Kathy Baker, Marisa Ramirez, Mayko Nguyen, Steve Byers, and Treat Williams.
Debuting on July 31st, the show attracted a mediocre 1.8 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, about on par with The Protector. Unfortunately, the numbers didn’t improve throughout the season. The 12th and 13th episodes (now the show’s last) aired on October 23rd. They each drew 1.4 million viewers and 0.4 demo ratings.
Lifetime recently ordered 10 more episodes of successful (and likely ending) Army Wives and also has Drop Dead Diva to help launch new shows. The cable channel has ordered The Client List, with Jennifer Love Hewitt reprising her role from the successful movie. Lifetime also has a few pilots on tap like Modern Love starring Eric Stoltz, American Housewife with Melanie Griffith, and Sworn To Secrecy, a movie and back-door pilot that stars Neve Campbell.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Against the Wall won’t be back for a second season? Why do you think the drama didn’t catch on?

Why was Against the Wall cancelled????? I agree with the comments posted here- either bring it back or I will boycott Lifetime!
Bring it back. It is a great show
Very disappointed. Really liked the show and was looking forward to it
This is a huge disappointment. Lifetime had two of my favorite shows–Drop Dead Diva and Against the Wall. I have been waiting since last year for season 2 to begin. The storyline was good and the writing was intriguing.
Bring the show back, it was a very good show.
This is completely screwed up i loved against the wall and that was one of the few shows that i really got into i never missed one even after all this time i never stopped thinking about when it was going to begin this really bugged me!
Network never give shows a chance! I really enjoyed this show and was looking forward to another season.
Every single time I like a series, it gets cancelled!! It never fails. I loved Against the Wall. I have been waiting for the second season to start and started looking it up to see when it would air only to find it cancelled. WHY?? It was an awesome series so please bring it back! I hate reality tv!! Against the wall is a show we could reallyget into! Please bring it back to Lifetime!!!!!
I am really bummed this was cancelled! I was really looking forward to the second season. Boooo Lifetime you fail us fans!
I am so ANGRY!!! There are VERY FEW, if ANY dramas that I ever like and this one was at the TOP of my list. And now I find out you have CANCELLED IT??????!!!!!????!!! So many things to say. I have had been waiting all year for this. My DVR has had it programmed into the system since the very FIRST Episode. Looks like my summer tv watching is going to be slimmed down even more. I will look forward to adding Season 1 to my DVD collection and enjoying those episodes OVER and OVER and OVER again. Thanks Lifetime… Read more »
I can’t believe you cancelled this show, next you will be cancelling Drop Dead Diva, which I also like. Several of us have been waiting for Against the Wall to return. I know I will not be watching “The Client List”, just the previews I have seen for “The Client List” look UNINTERESTING.
It figures. There are so few shows that I like and it seems like the ones I really like get canceled. At least there is still Drop Dead Diva. If that one goes I’m done with lifetime.
I agree with you! If they get rid of Drop Dead Diva that will be the last show I will watch on Lifetime.
I really enjoyed watching the show, and I am very disapointed that it will not be continuing. I have been keeping my eye out lately for the second season and never saw any ads so I decided to look it up…So sad. Bring it BACK! 🙂
Seriously, Lifetime! New and different may sound cliche, but that’s exactly what this show was, and it wasn’t even given a chance! Lifetime, here’s an idea, why not do more advertising to draw the target and push up the ratings, instead of canceling the show.
I think my jaw just hit the floor. Now we will never know who she called over to her apartment. What a shame this show was smart and very unique. Lighter than CBS’s Blue Bloods (the other family driven cop drama). I loved the whole IA aspect of this show and how it drew a line between Abby and her family. It was really really great. I thought they’d get a second season.
Like I said in the post about the Protector, the Nielson Box rating system is obsolete in today’s world of TVO/PVR and networks putting the episodes online.
