TV show description:
This sci-fi police drama takes place 35 years into the future, in the year 2048. It’s a world in which police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) is a cop who’s survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. He wakes up after a 17-month coma. He can’t remember much — except that his partner was killed. He’s lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. He suffers from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part.”
John returns to work at the encouragement of his longtime ally, Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor). Every cop must now be paired with a robot and, despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is no exception.
He’s partnered with a battle-ready MX-43 model. He abruptly terminates this pairing after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. As a result, technician Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) introduces John to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.
Although these responses were deemed flaws, it’s these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most — John is part-machine and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.
As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, like the sharp and insightful human intelligence analyst Detective Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly) and Detective Richard Paul (Michael Irby), a distrustful man who doesn’t welcome John back with open arms.
Episode #13 – Straw Man
Kennex and Dorian revisit the past when a string of murders are similar to those committed by a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father. Dorian gets his first performance review after being reactivated.
First aired: March 3, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Almost Human TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another season?

Another great show cancelled…really???? Get rid of most of these reality shows (there a few good ones but not many) and these horrible non entertaining talk shows and keep interesting, intelligent, thought provoking shows that actually have a great cast and the story line that has an ability to go many different interesting ways to keep it fresh. Monday’s are a horrible time slot for the age group that appreciates a well written, thought provoking and well cast show…not all about sex, drugs and geared towards the tweens. First day back to work with kid duty and responsibilities … Monday’s… Read more »
Please do not cancel this show. It is one of the best new shows on TV.
I could not wait till Monday came to watch the show. It had everything in it
Serious Funny Exciting. I do not know who makes these call to cancel
the show but you need to find new critics.
Ken, The show was cancelled, You are an ASS.
I don’t understand why such an entertaining show would get cancelled, I guess I must be stupid:(
WT, why cancel, ya axing all the great shows and keeping the rubbish ones. Plus Karl is a great actor and hes 1 of the main cast members in the new Star Trek films and no stranger to SyFy shows and films. Bring it back
It was an very interesting show, i used to wait for the next episode !!!
Cant believe that it got cancelled.
Very Sad….. 🙁
Please change your position….and don’t cancel. This TV show was intelligent and fun
Just found out Almost Human was cancelled?!? Why would anyone cancel a great, entertaining show. The wrong people are in charge of cancelling shows, they should start involving the viewer and put a vote to it! Unbelievable!
Great, just enjoyed the Pilot, and I find Fox has cancelled it 🙁
Disappointed!! I liked this show as did my wife and 3 sons.
I loved this show! It was one of few I actually watch. There is so much garbage on TV today that having a show whose characters actually had depth was refreshing. Learning more about the characters each week was wonderful – a show that has characters you know and understand with only one viewing is worthless. I am so disappointed! Maybe someone will grow a brain and pick them up somewhere else…CW maybe?
I love this show! It is different and the fact that they are not another reality show made it even more enjoyable ! It should be given a second chance!
Do not believe that Almost Human is canceled. It is so different that what make it
a great show. Better check who are canceling the good shows.
Disappointed. Really enjoyed the show and so nice to see something new and original. Would enjoy if it was able to be continued somehow. Amazing the garbage that continues season after season, and yet a great show like this dies.
SERIOUSLY?!?! Fox you wouldn’t know a good show if it jumped and bit you in the ass!!! This was an amazing show with not only good story lines but the acting was amazing also, This was one show I highly anticipated every week and was looking forward to the second season only to find out you canned it. I think the only thing that should get canned are the people who make these decisions as they don’t have a clue and they would rather watch reality tv as its cheap to make and doesn’t require any effort. DAMN! I could… Read more »
