TV show description:
This sci-fi police drama takes place 35 years into the future, in the year 2048. It’s a world in which police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) is a cop who’s survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. He wakes up after a 17-month coma. He can’t remember much — except that his partner was killed. He’s lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. He suffers from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part.”
John returns to work at the encouragement of his longtime ally, Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor). Every cop must now be paired with a robot and, despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is no exception.
He’s partnered with a battle-ready MX-43 model. He abruptly terminates this pairing after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. As a result, technician Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) introduces John to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.
Although these responses were deemed flaws, it’s these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most — John is part-machine and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.
As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, like the sharp and insightful human intelligence analyst Detective Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly) and Detective Richard Paul (Michael Irby), a distrustful man who doesn’t welcome John back with open arms.
Episode #13 – Straw Man
Kennex and Dorian revisit the past when a string of murders are similar to those committed by a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father. Dorian gets his first performance review after being reactivated.
First aired: March 3, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Almost Human TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another season?
I loved the show. Sad that the good ones only make it two years or in almost human only one, at the most but those stupid bathroom crap shows seem to have no end. It seems to me the the good ones like almost human got bullied off the air while other ones that are right out dumb and stupid stay on for three or four seasons.
What? It was not dumbed down enough for infantile critics, maybe to interesting and thought provoking. Well at least now you have a time slot for another juvenile bathroom joke sitcom.
You keep sleepy hallow crap on for two years. R u gone cancel Gotham next
A good show that draws me in you cancel good choice fox.
The general consensus is that stupid mindless sitcoms permiate american TV.
Good shows like Almost Human and Crossing Lines get cut. Sponsors favor
Crappy tv? I dont believe that. Bring this show back!
I agree 100%!
I agree 100%! I’m saying it again.
I loved this show. Why do they always cancel the good ones and leave the horrible ones on the air? There are a lot of crime shows on the air but this one was different.. It was interesting and kept you on your toes. Boo to Fox for cancelling a show that was different, interesting and fun to watch.
I hate watching new shows on the networks. They are usually the most likely to pull the plug without closure or notice. There are way too many sitcoms and reality shows. Every show I typically watch is shutting down one by one. SyFy has begun to follow suit with reality shows being its main focus. I am really starting to hate tv. If I want reality I will stay at work. when I want to relax I want a good story line with the fantastic twist not some twenty something pushing around someone else or some guy running through the… Read more »
This was an awesome show! I also had hopes that it would be picked up by another network — which is why I’m here — but no luck. I also thought that the SyFy Channel might pick it up as well, but … well, let’s just say two things make me think that’s not going to happen: (1) The way “Continuum” was cut down to half a season, and (2) Did anybody make it past the first episode of “Ascension” …? I think that network has long since lost its SciFi soul. Well. At least we still have “Orphan Black”… Read more »
Definitely should have been renewed……. better than stupid sitcoms!!!!!!!!!! I guess I will continue to watch CBS!!!!!!!!!!!!
It never fails that they leave all the CRAPPY shoes on that contain lots of sex and junk and take off a decent show for a change…figures. Guess all the peeves rule eh?
I can’t understand why crap stays on the air now you know why kids act so crazy.
I absolutely loved this show and would say that it needs at least another season. This show was intriguing and had lots of suspense. I cant see any reason for it to be cancelled. Please FOX bring this amazing and wonderful series back. Please I beg of you don’t let this enthralling story disappear. Give us the rest of the story so we can at least understand what happens with Kennex’s Ex-Girlfriend, Anna, and show us the adventures of the future!

Amazing. Fox leaves crap on the air, and cancels this. The initial plotlines were weak, but the concept is commendable. Writers should have taken cues from shows like Alien Nation, and moved in that direction. I am constantly amazed at the programming that stays on the air, New Girl, the Mindy Project, Brooklyn 99, none of which have the potential that Almost Human did. I hope that SyFy picks it up and decides to make it their own, as Fox obviously doesn’t realize that this show had potential. Move away from the poor me scripts and more towards the police… Read more »
Very disappointed. Would love to see this back on the air!
