TV show description:
This sci-fi police drama takes place 35 years into the future, in the year 2048. It’s a world in which police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) is a cop who’s survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. He wakes up after a 17-month coma. He can’t remember much — except that his partner was killed. He’s lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. He suffers from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part.”
John returns to work at the encouragement of his longtime ally, Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor). Every cop must now be paired with a robot and, despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is no exception.
He’s partnered with a battle-ready MX-43 model. He abruptly terminates this pairing after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. As a result, technician Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) introduces John to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.
Although these responses were deemed flaws, it’s these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most — John is part-machine and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.
As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, like the sharp and insightful human intelligence analyst Detective Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly) and Detective Richard Paul (Michael Irby), a distrustful man who doesn’t welcome John back with open arms.
Episode #13 – Straw Man
Kennex and Dorian revisit the past when a string of murders are similar to those committed by a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father. Dorian gets his first performance review after being reactivated.
First aired: March 3, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Almost Human TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another season?
I loved this show. I want it back!!!
I loved this program as really something different & enjoyed the actors-to say the least. Would love to see this back on TV….
I don’t watch a ton of shows, but “Almost Human” was brilliant and, well, very human. I was an avid “24” viewer, and some other Fox shows, and am disappointed that it was cancelled. It takes viewership to make a show successful, and maybe it just didn’t fit into all the other barrage of shows. It seems as if Reality TV is still the viewer’s opium, and that’s unfortunate. I know I am one of many who would continue to be an “Almost Human” watcher.
fox cancels all their good shows and keeps the horrible ones.almost human was well written and liked, which, with fox,is a death sentence.another example is surviving jack, which had great writing, top notch acting, and no chance because of the fox network.they kept Brooklyn nine-nine,which averages less than one million viewers, yet canceled jack, which averaged 4.8 million viewers.same with rake.great show.fox will never be a real network because they make bad choices and the programming mostly sucks.almost human was too good, and that doomed it.if it had been even on cw,it would still be around.fox sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never did watch a lot of shows growing up, but almost human was the #1 show i always watched never missed an episode. Had lot of great values and taught you to stick with your gut feeling even if others said you were wrong. My god-daughter just loved it. She would come home after school and plant her but in front of the tv and watch it.
This was a great show! Can’t believe it was cancelled!
Decent ” family” show, good for young and old, humerous, exciting, very entertaining .what a shame.
This was a great show. I was hooked.. So sorry to see this one get away…
Yes it should be renewed, it was a very action packed, funny, and most of all shows feelings, FOX you really screwed up again you should have given the show a season two.
Definitely renewed! Fun action programming is in short supply.
RENEWED!
This TV show is hilarious and really wonderful. FOX never lets shows last past season one or two anymore and the ones that do were never good to begin with. I was really wanting to watch more. Karl Urban in a TV show….what’s not to love?
no wonder the’ re so low in the rating
RENEWED!
The story line really has me interested and the eye candy is AWSOME!!!!
Whoever cancelled this has their head up their backside!
Fox always pulls the plug waaay to early on new shows and always runs others long past their expiration date.
Yes “Almost Human” should have been renewed. The idea was original. A prequel to an already existing comic book character and a group of serial killer fans becoming students are not original ideas. The shows are good but it was a refreshing change to have something unique to watch.
I can’t believe nothing has come of this. I didn’t find this show until after the 13th episode, and watched all of them in a row. I was so excited about getting the next season when it came out, went to look when that would be, and saw that it was canceled. Really freaking figures, FOX…
