Looks like the choppers are shutting down. TMZ is reporting that the American Chopper TV show has been cancelled after six years on the air. of the cancellation, TV critic Aaron Barnhart noted, “TLC wrecks another family.”
The end of the reality show isn’t a total surprise. In the season six premiere of American Chopper, it was shown that Paul Teutul Sr. and his son, Paul Jr., had a big fight over Paul Jr.’s contract and he was terminated. The son later returned but the problems erupted again and he left once more.
In December 2009, Paul Sr. took legal action against his son over ownership of their family business, Orange County Choppers. The custom motorcycle manufacturer is based in Orange County, New York and was co-founded by the father and son.
Paul Sr. contends they had a deal that he could purchase his son’s stock options in the company but Paul Jr. apparently doesn’t want to give them up. Paul Sr. is suing for $1 million in damages and hopes that the judge will order Paul Jr. to sell his stocks.
Of the show, a TLC representative put a positive slant on the cancellation. The rep said, “The Teutuls will always be a part of the Discovery family and we congratulate them on a tremendously successful series run.”
The last episode of American Chopper will air on February 11th at 9pm on TLC.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see American Chopper end or is it long overdue?

Snake, to say the things you do you obviously know nothing about bikes at all. I visited the old store before the move and all the project bikes were there and man they were all beautiful . The paint was absolutely amazing and I don’t know were you saw wires hanging loose because all the wires are in the frames.
Why don’t you show the world what you can do Mr Wisenheimer, I bet you can’t even hold a welding wip. Your the amateur!!
Things were fine up until the point at which they met the black widow!! WHO?? You know Kate Gosselin!! When John & Kate plus 8 had thier crossover episodes, that was the poison that infected the Teutals! and its been downhill since then! They should have a new show for her victims, John, Mikey, Jr, Sr and anyone else she destroys in her path!!
I have been watching OCC since it started, I was upset with the breakup of the family, nut coninued to watch. I am 71 yrs. old today, I have 4 adult children and 7 grandkids, after having a serious Aortic Aneurysm rupture, in the ER, they had to start my heart again, twice. Coming out of a coma and finding out the mortality rate on a ruptured abdominal aneurysm, is 90%, I realized that no matter what else I had done or achieved in my life nothing compared to having my wonderful family, oh we had our ups and downs,… Read more »
They don’t show all that goes on. Jr did have problem with being around when someone needed him and that interupts the flow of production. Jr lost interest in bike building or he would have started his own shop. He would have done a lot better for the show if he and his father had their own shops and the American Chopper show continued to show them competing against each other. Jr better sell his stock though because the main reason these guys made it big was because of television. Their theme bikes got big dollars because it was seen… Read more »
when vinny and cody made their departure, it was close to the end. when jr left it was over. sr is so self absorbed how could he last at anything. i wish rick luck, he was true blue!
ciao!
I’m happy to say good riddance to them all. We all can do without the drama of Paul Sr and the constant attitudes. These builds are for “trailer queens” and have no practical use.
Jr and Vinny made the show what it is today and I wish them all the best. I won’t miss OCC at all.
Aside from the fights and other less than entertaining drama and BS, they put out, I saw some of the production bikes these posers built, complete garbage for only $50K. The welds were pathetic and the design was all out of proportion. Wiring was left hanging loose everywhere, the paint sucked, metal fit and finish was amateur at best. Those were good bikes for RUBS that have a fantasy and like trailer queens but anyone that actually rides wouldn’t have one. I hope they enjoy their journey into obscurity…
I knew when Vinny left that the show was in trouble. Then when Paul Jr left I knew the show was headed for the end after all Paul Jr and Vinny made that show what it was.
they had a good thing going on about five years ago. They showed have done the same thing Jesse James did from Monster Garage, take the money from Discovery and BOOK!
What father doesnt want to build a business with his children then pass it on to them. Sr. forgets how involved Jr was in building the company. He built a huge showroom along with a crazy big home just when the economy tanks.
It really bothers me when the guys in the shop talk bad about Jr. Without his involvement none of them would have jobs. Vinny saw the future and bailed at the right time.
I am disapointed but I am not really surprised of the way SR was to JR.I hated but what can you do when they are there and were here.I also liked when JR and Vinnie worked togther.Sr is an ??? because if it dont go his way he gets Pd off.I liked they bikes what they have done. They where all awsome.Thats messed up what Sr whats to do to JR take him to court. How dumb.Family is family.I dont care how mad you get at family you dont do that.JR did dumb things to come in whenever he wanted to.you have… Read more »
I am unable to follow the show because I live in the Balkans, but I have heard many good stories about the show. Since then, I want to have one of their bikes, but now when I read your comments I would not be happy with one. Such a sad story.
Jr was obviously the talent in the organization, resulting in their rise as bike builders- because ever since Jr’s departure, every bike churned out by OCC is an artistic abomination.
tj go trailor you stock harley to the bike ralley and put on a biker t shirt and call everyone bro,,,,, poser
I LOVED THE SHOW WHEN JR AND VINNIE WERE ON IT . PAUL SR TREATED JR BAD, JR WAS THE BRAINES OF THE COMPANY,TO BAD SR COULD’NT SEE THAT. NO FATHER SHOULD EVER TREAT THEIR SONS LIKE THAT. WITH OUT PAUL JR,THE COMPANY WILL FAIL.
i realy like the show they say paul sr hard on jr but also it seemed jr was the same to sr most of the time it was like if it wasn,t for jr sr wouldn,t be where there were. what jr has,nt seen is that if it wasn,t for sr jr wouldn,t have the big house and his toy,s . sr like most father,s want the best for there kid,s .but in most case,s the kid,s dont see it until it is to late.in my case i was raised in a service station my dad build and had seven… Read more »
