There won’t be a second season of American Odyssey. To little surprise, NBC has cancelled the dramatic TV series after 13 episodes.
On the American Odyssey TV show, an international cover-up explodes when the lives of a female Special Forces soldier, a disillusioned corporate lawyer, and a political activist from a privileged family unexpectedly collide. The cast includes Anna Friel, Peter Facinelli, Jake Robinson, Jim True-Frost, Sadie Sink, Omar Ghazaoui, Nate Mooney, Elena Kampouris, Daniella Pineda, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Treat Williams.
The series had a lackluster debut and the ratings got much worse as the weeks progressed. The 13 installments ended up averaging a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with fewer than three million viewers. The finale aired this past Sunday.
Series creator Adam Armus tweeted, “Thanks to the devoted fans of #AmericanOdyssey. I loved the tweets, the artwork and the emotional support. #odellelives in our [heart]️ always!” and “#AmericanOdyssey is not renewed for next season. The stories live on in here [head] and in here [heart]️! [Bravo] to the fantastic cast, crew and the fans!”
Of the cancellation, executive producer Peter Horton tweeted, “As you all know we have bn canceled. Had we been on cable wld have bn a hit Thx to all of u for bing our audience #thebest #AmericanOdyssey” and then, “#AmericanOdyssey Heartbreaking. But you all have been the best. xo”
Actor Treat Williams wrote, “American Odyssey has been a great experience. Thank you Peter, Adam, Kay,and a lovely cast for a great season. Thank you NBC for the gig.”
What do you think? Did you like the American Odyssey TV show? If you ran the network, would you have cancelled it or renewed the series for a second season?
Good decision. It could have been an excellent show but got bogged down with less than credible characters making poor decisions, and of course, political correctness in the name of diversity. All the “side plots”, such as Harrison and the transvestite uncle, were silly. Disappointing show.
I’ve never really watched the local channels until this show. Its always been discovery, travel, etc. Agree.,, bad choice. Agree, 1st episode could have be bit more, but I think it got better as it went. NBC lost me as a viewer. back to travel chnl.
Totally loved that show and so disappointed that NBC decided to cancel it. It was one of the better new shows of the season. Hope it gets picked up by someone else. Bad move on NBC’s part.
Only series I’ve ever watched every week. Don’t leave us hanging !
I loved the show – couldn’t wait until Sunday for the next episode. This is very sad to me.
Extremely wrong decision. It played out like a movie.
Your are crazy it a phenomenal show. Do not remove this show listen to the people.
I love the show. Bring it back.
please enewed the series
Really good show.should not of canceled it..
What a loss. This is/was one of the best stories going on TV. Taking it off…seriously…really stinks. At least do like some other shows do…go to cable and continue being one the best shows ever. What a big mistake to take it off!! This is one of the few new shows that I looked forward to every week…
Horrible news i have ever heard to cancellation of the beloved second season of American Odyssey. Really surprised the decision regarding the rating. Shame on NBC, and release soon

OK, you and a few others enjoyed the show. But millions did not. The show was losing money. Why are you mad at NBC? No company keeps on making something that almost nobody is buying.
2 to 3 million people in the 18 to 49 demographic consistently watched this show every week, according to data reported on this site every week. This doesn’t include however many more watched regularly from other demographics which are far less valued by networks because they spend less money on products over all, but it could be another million. While these millions are a lot less than the numbers watching the higher rated shows, it doesn’t make much sense to call 3 million or more people just a few. That is a lot of people, but more were watching other… Read more »
I loved American Odyssey. So sad to see it go.There is souch trash on TV
When a great show is on it is heartbreaking when it is cancelled
Very intriguing show too bad NBC didn’t handle it like they did Aquarius and put it online Aquarius is an inferior show but is on for another season because they had it online. I do like Aquarius and David Duchovny. Win some lose some
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Corporate ratings are just that. Good story line, AMAZING actors. I’m way to sad it has to end. Maybe the higher ups should gather around the round table with a cocktail and reevaluate the decision. What a same.
I totally agree.
