Looks like the spies will live to double cross each other for another day. FX has ordered a second season of the Archer animated series.
Archer revolves around suave master spy Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) and the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS), a spy agency where global crises serve as opportunities for the highly-trained employees to undermine one other. The series also features the voices of Jessica Walter, Aisha Tyler, George Coe, Chris Parnell, and Judy Greer.
The series got off to a strong start when it began its regular run in January. Approximately 1.8 million viewers watched the premiere with a .9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Unfortunately, the ratings began to slide after that and the first seven episodes have averaged 1.2 million viewers.

That’s apparently good enough for FX though since the cable channel has just ordered a second season of 13 installments.
Of the renewal, Nick Grad, FX’s Executive VP of Original Programming, said, “Executive Producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson are delivering a hilarious series and it truly earned a second season. H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell and Judy Greer comprise one of the best voice casts of any animated series on TV. We’re very happy with the audience response and critical acclaim for Archer and are excited to move forward with it.”
The current 10 episode season of Archer will wrap up on March 18th. Season two episodes are expected to begin airing in 2011.

I too was introduced to this series by way of a Netflix “recommendation”, and I have to say that this is BY FAR one of the funniest shows on TV, easily comparable to (if not funnier than) the likes of Family Guy, ATHF, and Metalocolypse. Thanks to FX for airing it and to Netflix for recommending it, and to the creators of the show. PLEASE….keep me laughing my arse off.

Archer is awesome keep it on and going Archer shall last atleast 10 seasons if it keeps going this way keep it up FX i know you won’t let us down FX is the only channel i watch anymore

This is the only animated show I watch. The Simpsons got old 10+ years ago, and the rest of Fox’s animated series are just terrible. I’m glad that FX had the balls to break away from Fox and not make this yet another crappy, unfunny Seth MacFarlane vehicle. I love Judy Greer, even when she’s just a voice on a cartoon.
Now, if they could just up the quantity above 10 episodes per season, that would be nice.

I am REALLY happy to hear that “Archer” is getting another season. I loved the first season. So funny! Just laugh on the floor FUNNY! H. John Henderson is hilarious! Yeah a few eps were pretty lame but it really took off towards the end. I can only imagine what the series will bring. Hopefully the animation will get better.
