It looked like Army Wives might be coming to an end after six seasons. Now, it turns out that last night’s cliffhanger season ending might be a good sign for season seven.
Series star Catherine Bell has noted that, while Army Wives hasn’t been cancelled, it hasn’t been renewed yet either. Via her Twitter account, Bell said that the cast and crew filmed two endings for the season six finale which was filmed in June. Presumably one that would wrap up the show and another that would serve as a cliffhanger to lead into season seven.
Though Army Wives hasn’t been renewed, Bell hints that it’s “kind of a good sign” that Lifetime went with the cliffhanger ending instead of the tidy one.
If the Lifetime show does indeed come back, you can be sure that Bell will be a part of it. The actress signed a new two year deal with the studio back in May. It potentially commits her to two more seasons of the show and gives her a significant salary increase.
Who else would be returning? That seems to be up in the air since none of the other original Army Wives castmembers have contracts now that season six is over. If Lifetime wants them back, they’ll have to renegotiate salaries and that will presumably drive production costs.
That may explain why so many characters were left in jeopardy in the sixth season finale. If deals can’t be reached, Army Wives could return with several new faces. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
What do you think? Do you think Army Wives will return for a seventh season? If some in the cast don’t return, who would you miss the most? The least?
I really don’t have a favorite character in Army Wives. I think that’s what made it one of my favorite shows. It was the ensemble that set Army Wives apart from the many other scripted shows offered today. Am I annoyed that they left such a terrible cliffhanger on the last show as far as we know? Yeah, I admit I jumped up and shook my fist at the TV as Michael closed out this beloved show with those dark, scary words as many of our beloved characters were bravely flying off to do their duty keeping our country free… Read more »
As an ex-Air Force wife, I really love this show and hope it comes back next season. I think all the characaters are very realistic and it is good for our country to see the sacrifices people in the military have to make to keep this country safe and free.
I love this show I’ve watched it since the beginning it’s one of the best acted shows on tv now. I sure hope they have a season 7 – 8 9 etch.
This is the one show that I must DVR, so I don’t miss an episode. So glad it was a cliffhangar. Holding my breath and hoping ffor season seven. New characters are great, but the old ones need to continue also. Roxie and Trevor are my favorites, wouldn’t be the same without them.
C’mon Lifetime, keep the best show on TV.
I really hope it doesn’t end I love n it!! Along with so many other. This show is so different then other shows out in tv world and that’s why its so great! It shows struggles that normal military people go threw. I found it gave me strangth threw our first deployment. This show is way different then the other military shows and shows what the families really go threw. PLEASE KEEP THIS SHOW ON! For me it reminds me life is short so enjoy what happens that day and makes the best of it!
Army wives cannot end this way. We have to know what exactly happened and who survived. This can’t be over. There were so many things left hanging. It just would not be fair to us loyal fans.
yes please bring it back – it is one of the BEST shows ever!!
one of the few TV shows on today and I would hate to see it end. There is so much crap TV on these days it would be a shame to have this hit not be renewed. I do wonder why Claudia Joy wasn’t here for the last show???
Love this show, please bring it back.
I would miss Roxy the most should the show not be renewed. She is such a real person, not so perfect, she makes mistakes and learns from them, and sure isn’t afraid to say what she thinks. The show was the highlight of Sunday night.
I thought it was time for the show to end. All the active duty have been promoted several times at the same location (unrealistic) and it seemed the writers were getting desperate for new ideas, especially with the Sherwoods. I know I wouldn’t watch anymore without Roxie. The ending,on the other hand, was awesome! Another season would be anticlamatic IMHO.
Please bring back this show it is one of the best shows on tv I would miss it so much I have been watching it from day one..
This is one of my favorite shows, would love to see season 7. just wish it would have all of the old charaters back
I LOVE THIS SHOW I HOPE IT IS RENEW FOR ANOTHER SEASON SO WE CAN FINE WHO COMES BACK AN HOW DOES’NT
Well what can I say after reading many of the reviews of the possibly last episode of my beloved “Army Wives”. I have watched this show since it first aired on the Lifetime Network and I must say I was so sad to hear that this may be it’s last season. I to have grown very fond of all the original characters with the exception of the General Kevin. Like many other viewers, I’m begging that Lifetime will renew the contracts of the original characters and take this show on for at least another four seasons. As we all know… Read more »
