TV show description:
This offbeat crime procedural is based on the Swedish book series by Leif G. W. Persson. The series follows Detective Everett Backstrom (Rainn Wilson). He’s an unhealthy, offensive, irascible (also brilliant) detective who is brought back from exile to run the Portland Police Bureau’s Special Crimes Unit (SCU).
Tasked with navigating the city’s most sensitive and serious cases, Backstrom must solve each crime as he tries, and fails, to change his own self-destructive behavior.
Backstrom’s second in command is Detective Nicole Gravely (Genevieve Angelson). Detective John Almond (Dennis Haysbert) is a kind and devoutly religious man who’s been married for 30 years and serves as a pastor on weekends.
Sergent Peter Niedermayer (Kristoffer Polaha) is the unit’s Forensics Liaison and Officer Frank Moto (Page Kennedy) is one of the members of the Special Crimes Unit. Foreign-born civilian Nadia Paquet (Beatrice Rosen) supports the detectives.
Meanwhile, Gregory Valentine (Thomas Dekker) is Backstrom’s decorator and “underworld connection”.
Episode #13 — Rock Bottom
When a Native American is found dead under a bridge on the Wabacooche Indian reservation, Amy’s (guest Sarah Chalke) new boyfriend and Indian Reserve Police Captain, Jesse Rocha (guest Adam Beach), wants in on the case. Backstrom then learns that Indian meth-king Norwest (guest Gregory Cruz), of Cooch County, is a suspect in the case, and he is convinced his father, Cooch County Sheriff Blue Backstrom (guest Robert Forster), knows about Norwest’s drug dealings, leaving Backstrom to make a difficult decision. Meanwhile, in order to keep his job with the S.C.U., Backstrom must impress Dr. Deb (guest Rizwan Manji).
First aired: April 30, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Backstrom TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
It’s a great show and I’m sad to see it end
Once again the powers that be have proven that intelligent content does not last. Both my wife and I enjoyed the interaction between the characters and the intense crime solving skills of Backstrom. Please offer the more discriminating viewers something other than reality TV. Bring back Backstrom!
great quirky show.
Loved this show great comedic timing, excellent script. Great cast, excellent storylines. definitely quirky. Oh yes cancel the good shows and keep under-rated.
We loved Backstrom. Please bring back this series!!!!!!!
One of my favorite shows. BRING IT BACK!!!
Why have a cliffhanger and then cancel a show. TV is run by idiots now.
What! Backstrom was great
FOX what were you thinking, great show and the cast is perfect. Give it a chance will you!!
I am sorry this series was cancelled; I enjoyed the ensemble. Backstrom reminded me a little bit of House, but more vulnerable.
Worst decision ever!!! Backstrom is a great show, I don’t feel like I’m the only one third of reality tv!! This show is funny, harsh, and entertaining!! Bring the show back!!!
Give the show a chance. The show is different, way out of the box!!!!
The actors were just getting their feet wet. Learning their characters
personality’s.I liked it enough to record all 13 episodes!!!!
You are keeping “The Last Man on Earth” but cancelling “Backstrom” doesn’t make any sense to me. You’re right Fox blew it!
You blew it, great show….we need more shows like this, less of “reality television”. The people who loved this show will not quit!
Once again the powers that be miss! This was a great show, fast paced, a little qurky, good scripts and acting. Fox blew it.
